Introduced in 1971 and produced until 1974, the Series III E-Type (XKE) is the most refined version of Jaguar’s most iconic sports car and features a 5.3-liter V12 engine. This 1973 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 Coupe is the subject of an older restoration that included overhauled braking and A/C systems, four new SU carburetors, and a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission conversion. This tastefully upgraded V12 E-Type is now being offered for auction out of Massachusetts.
This Series III Coupe is finished in Pale Primrose paint and features chrome trim and bumpers, a louvered clamshell bonnet, dual chrome mirrors, a retractable cloth sunroof, dual center-mounted tailpipes, and 15” chrome wire-spoke wheels with knock-off spinners and thin whitewall tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery showing some imperfections around the exterior.
The cabin features a 2+2 seating arrangement with black leather upholstery. Accessories include a wood-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel, a leather Jaguar-crest gear knob, wood center dashboard panel trim, a center console armrest, an under-dash A/C system, a locking glovebox, analog Smiths instrumentation, and an aftermarket Sony stereo. The seller notes the A/C system was overhauled under previous ownership.
The 5.3-liter DOHC V12 engine was originally rated at 272 HP and has been upgraded with four SU carburetors by expert Joe Curto. The rear wheels are driven by way of a replacement Tremec 5-speed manual transmission and stopping power comes from disc brakes at each corner. The seller notes the brakes and hydraulics were overhauled under previous ownership.
This sale will include a clean title.
