Available for auction is this 1973 International Harvester Scout II finished in Glacier Blue  (6772) over a black vinyl interior. This 1973 example was acquired by the seller from its second owner out of Southern California in March of 2019 and has since received corrosion repair and a glass-out repaint along with new seats, a soft top, brakes, and more. This classic 1973 Scout is now being offered by its seller out of California.

The 1973 Scout II can be distinguished by its vertical 14-bar front grille with chrome trim, and this example is said to have been refinished in its original color of Glacier Blue (6772) along with a new black soft top. According to the seller the floors, rockers, and supporting structures were cut out and replaced with new metal before the glass was removed and the truck was refinished. Additionally, the accompanying hardtop was restored, the doors received new bushings, and the windshield received a new rubber gasket. Accessories include heavy-duty front and rear bumpers, a roll bar, a gas tank brush guard, a spare tire and gas can holder, a Warn winch, and a set of 15″ alloy wheels dressed in Cooper Evolution tires from 2019.

The cabin features new bucket seats upholstered black vinyl along with a custom fiberglass dashboard, new carpeting, a new glove box, and a rear view mirror.  The seller confirms all instrumentation and accessories to be fully functional apart from the windshield wipers.

Power comes from a 305ci V8 engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and a dual-speed transfer case that drives either the rear or all four wheels. The engine is said to have received several new top-end gaskets, a general tune-up, and a new aluminum radiator. The steering has been upgraded with a Steer straight steering brace and the brakes were recently refreshed. The seller reports minor oil leaks when the vehicle is left to sit.

This sale will include a clean title, records, and original owner's manuals.

This very cool truck aside - I just want to give a shout out to the seller for anyone maybe hesitant with bidding online and this auction format.

Last week I bought another one of his cars in auction here and it is already on it's way across country to me. He and his wife are lovely human beings and fantastic to deal with; super transparent, helpful with logistics, and beyond.

Thank goodness a bid. . . I was starting to feel like the outcast at a high school prom. Thanks for showing interest. Happy bidding all.

@ionyota Thanks for the question. I replaced the Crank case ventilator, Tappet cover/valley pan gasket, thermostat gasket, (new temp sending unit as well), intake manifold gaskets and valve cover gaskets. I provided pictures of the removed intake manifold and tappet cover. Hope this helps.

@Surfdog1, when you say that you replaced the “top gaskets”, what are the top gaskets you’re referring to?

  • Surfdog1 (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Be on the look out for a video showing the wipers moving. They are slow but move. And the oil drip on the oil pan. If for what ever reason the picts don't post today hit me up on the contact seller and I will text them to you. Thanks for looking.

@Surfdog1 regarding the oil leak. I will post some picts but it drips from the front and rear of the oil pan. My guess an old gasket. I replaced the top gaskets and just did not get to the bottom. I also own old English and German cars and I am used to leaky cars. I just keep an eye on it and check the oil level occasionally. Hope this helps.

@jlands thanks for the question. I live in SoCal and it never rains. I did not even turn the wipers on until I posted it for sale. I think the motor is bad. They move a little bit. I will try to take pictures of the oil drip so that you can see the general area.

    Really cool truck.

Any reason you didn’t repair the wipers? Any other electrical issues?

Can you be more specific about which areas there is fluid leaking from when it sits? Thanks

I want to point out that the car does not have carpet. It has rubber mats throughout the car. You can easily remove the rubber mats to wash the car out when it gets sandy or muddy. I opted to paint blue rather than rhino line. The welds were too perfect.

Hi all up for grabs is my 1973 Scout. I did my best to show the work done over the last few years. I replaced all of the panels that had rust. The new floors and rocker fit perfectly and the welder did an amazing job. I had no intention of selling this car but life happens and now you have an opportunity to purchase this great ride. The car will be shipped with the original restored hard top bolted to the car unless the buyer says otherwise. Please refer to the gallery to view the car with the hard top on it. The top Is matt black exterior and blue interior. The undercarriage is super clean and original. Any questions please ask away. I am in town this week and the car can be viewed in Laguna Hills Ca.

@hotrodsurfer yes the options were dealer options and the car works awesome in 2 or 4wd high and low. thanks

  • hotrodsurfer 2 years, 6 monthsago

I believe those wheels, the heavy duty bumpers and the wench were dealer installed options.
Does the car drive ok in both two wheel drive as. Well as four wheel drive?
