Available for auction is this 1972 Porsche 914 finished in Saturn Yellow over a black interior. Powered by a modified 2.1-liter flat-four engine featuring dual Weber carburetors, this 914 has been with the current owner for ten years and has undergone rigorous maintenance along with the fitment of a new stereo, conversion to side shifter transmission, and more. Purchased new in Santa Barbara, this lifelong California car is now available for auction.
This 914 is finished in Saturn Yellow with a matching Targa top and rides on painted 15" rims with chrome hubcaps and new Michelin tires. The car was previously refinished and most of the weatherstripping has been replaced for a tighter fit on the doors. The windshield, chrome molding, and bumper tops have been replaced as well. The exterior is described to show well with some minor imperfections. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside this 914, the seats have been recovered in custom canvas upholstery with yellow stitching and feature new seatback pads for improved comfort. Additionally, the dash was replaced with a recovered piece and a custom stereo has been added. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
A 1.8-liter flat-four engine was rebuilt to a 2.1-liter displacement by European Motorworks in Hawthorne, California. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission which was converted to a side-shifter by Rancho Performance Transaxles in Fullerton, California. Additionally, the clutch, shocks, rear main seal, and input shaft seal were replaced. The modified Weber 40 carburetors are said to perform well with the rebuilt engine and all routine service and valve adjustments have been performed since the mechanical overhaul. The car's original engine is said to have been rebuilt and is available separately for an additional cost.
This sale will include a clean title.

The engine currently in this car is a 2.1 high performance motor with all top quality components. I had 2 of these engine built identical and boy they don't disappoint.
I sold this car to the current owner in 2013. He has maintained this car regardless of cost.
I fitted the engine for him as he wanted to have fun with the car which indeed he did.
He bought a Cayman S with auto transmission which suits he and his wife better, his wife didn't drive a stick.
It's a reluctant sale as he has several other cars not classics and parking has become an issue, and 1 has to go! Clean and clear title is in owners name and payment will be made directly to current registered owner either by bank wire, cashiers check or cash.
If needed i will assist with shipping.
Regards Russell

@Morris0906 Forgot about heater. I am not sure if heater is working. I will check but it's all there.
@JuniorVarsity Good morning. This 914 will drive 500 miles without any mechanical problems. All service is up to date. The engine has about 3000 miles since complete rebuild and runs like a champ. It pulls strong in all gears.
The windshield to targa top rubber has been replaced and the targa top has had all weatherstripping replaced. The top fits well, it hasn't been driven in the rain so as to leaks, shouldn't as all rubbers have been replaced.
Regards Russell
Great looking 914!
Can you comment on the heater? Any leaks from the targa top? Any maintenance items pending? Any concerns about driving it 500+ miles as she sits?
Thanks from your pal in the Pacific North Wet.
I would like to see if car sells first and give potential buyer first offer of original engine.
Regards Russell
@Morris0906 How do we connect?
@AtLast $3500
@Morris0906 Do you have a price for it if I want it separately?

The original engine is in storage. Everything has been machined and replaced. I believe 96mm pistons and cylinders were used. Cam was reground, case was split and everything taken care of accordingly. Basically a new engine with all new parts where needed. Regards Russell
@AtLast I have the other engine. I had it built by European Motorwerks to 1915cc.
How do I get information on the other engine?
