An especially significant year for the Porsche 911, 1972 saw the introduction of a new Type-915 manual transmission and a unique external oil filler lid (Ölklappe) which was discontinued the following year. Acquired by the seller in 1983, this example began a comprehensive restoration in 1992 including a refinish in red along with a host of enhancements including RS-style bumpers, fender flares, and a 911SC engine upgraded to a 3.2-liter displacement. Garage-stored and driven approximately 10k miles since the engine build, this 911T is now being offered for auction out of Louisiana.

Referred to as an “Ölklappe”, this 911T is distinguished as a 1972 model by the external oil filler lid mounted behind the passenger door on the rear quarter panel. This example was refinished in red approximately 20 years ago and has been modified with fiberglass RS-style bumpers, black-finished horn grilles, H4 headlights, 9” steel fender flares, 911SC mirrors, and a whale tail rear spoiler. A set of aftermarket staggered-width Fuchs-style wheels have also been fitted. The seller notes minor signs of road wear on the lower front spoiler, additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin sports black leatherette upholstery and has been upgraded with a 1975 911 Turbo dashboard, a MOMO steering wheel, and Recaro bucket seats. The carpet, headliner, door panels, and deck lid panel are said to have been replaced. The seller adds that all gauges were refurbished by the professionals at VDO Electronics.

This example has been upgraded with a 911SC-derived flat-six engine bored out to a 3.2-liter displacement with high-compression pistons. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle while stopping power is provided by fixed 2-piston brakes and ventilated discs at each corner. The seller adds that a host of documentation will accompany the sale, including approximately $130k in receipts dating back to 1992.

This sale will include a clean title, a partial toolkit, and spare tire.

The seller would like you to know:The vehicle was originally owned by a Miami judge who gave it to his son who went to the University of Miami. He sold it to my best friend Mark who had it for about a year and never used it because he was 6'5" so he bought a ‘vette- "something he could fit in.” He then sold it to me on 08/1983, about 40 years ago. The car was under my sister's name for a couple of years while I traveled the world, always garage-kept. I transformed it into what it is today. I am getting old and moving to the woods no place for such a beauty. Trying to find an Enthusiast to love her for the next 40 years.”

@Octavian @Octavian. I am not sure, it was Rd when Mark bought it , door jams and everything hidden to the human eye have never suggested it being a different color

  • flatcrank (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@Froistees Thanks. No need to scan everything, just pics of the highlights and basically, "the impressive stuff" … : )

  • Bolson1982 (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

In addition to the records that you mention, I’m curious if you can confirm the car’s original color and/or have a COA. Thanks

@flatcrank no electrical issues added a new radio and amp about 5 years ago.

  • Froistees (seller) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@flatcrank The engine is sound complete rebuild it needs nothing done to it . I do not have time to scan all the receipts. Engine was done head to toe , transmission was completely done , engine mounts trans axels fuel system , interior you name it it was done brand new a/c . The Engine crankshaft and rods came out of a 1984 Carrera we added the 3.2l high compression pistons. All work was done by Randy Greff @ Greff motors. I can see if my nephews secretary will scan and convert to a pdf file if that is possible 30years of receipts . Its in perfect condition, i took no shortcuts. This one was the oldest of the 3 the one I decided to keep Got rid of the 84 turbo & 84 cabriolet. I'll see if my niece can scan all n convert to pdf @ my nephews office. What is your email ? There is no to do list its done. Of'course any new owner will find something to do to it as everyone has their own taste, pics & videos talk for them self. I put some $ into this baby floorboards are original the car has barely been used in 40 years just maintained and turned into what you see today.

I'd like to see pics/scans of the receipts/doc pertaining to major work, the bulk of what adds up to the sum of the receipts mentioned (e.g. engine build, more of the before/after/during of the bodywork.)
Also, anything about known problems, e.g. suspension and brakes usually need something. The fuel system, electrical look like there's been some work in progress. I'd like a description of what would be on the to-do list.
    Thanks,

I think tidy up a little, and some potential "make it mine" changes (remove the tint, teardrop instead flags, tidy up the exhaust, maybe keep the turbo tail in the garage, RS door cards, WEVO shifter) and you've got a great daily driver and a potential fun track day car (with better brakes, minor suspension tweaks.)
Working AC in these cars is a major plus, especially with those black bucket seats that tend to get cozy and warm. : )
