Featuring a sought-after external oil filler seen during the 1972 model year only, this Porsche 911T Coupe was purchased new by the owner’s aunt from Jack-Robbins Porsche-Audi of Oklahoma City. The seller assumed ownership of the car in 1986 and has overseen the installation of Weber carburetors and upgraded MSD electronic ignition as well as routine maintenance and partial restoration. Supported by an unbroken history of family ownership, this remarkable 911T is now being offered for auction out of Oklahoma accompanied by original documentation and the factory MFI system.

Referred to as an “Ölklappe”, this 1972 example is distinguished by an external oil filler lid mounted behind on the passenger door on the rear quarter panel. It comes finished in White and includes 911S-style rocker moldings, rubber-trimmed chrome bumpers, a chrome driver’s side mirror, chrome headlamp bezels, pop-out rear quarter windows, a fender-mounted antenna, 15” slotted chrome wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps and Nexen 16580R tires from 2015. The lower valences have been painted black to address stone chips and the right side of the car is said to have been refinished in 1974 following a minor cosmetic accident. Restoration carried out at 162k recorded miles also included bare metal repaints of the hood and rear decklid. The seller adds that new door seals were recently installed along with new hood and decklid struts. Two small areas of rust are noted inside the front hood and a small hole is present in the driver’s door sill.

Inside, the seller describes the black vinyl interior to be in highly original condition apart from an upgraded Kenwood CD player, additional amplifier, and Kilmat 80 sound insulation lining the cabin. A crack is noted o in the dashboard above the clock, a small hole is present on the driver’s seat, and the carpeting is worn near the door sills. The seller adds that the door pockets are not warped, but have lost the tension to stay closed. Inoperable items include the A/C system, dashboard clock, washer pump relay, rear defroster glass, and horn button.

Power comes from an air-cooled 2.4-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels. The seller notes the original MFI fuel injection system has been replaced in favor of Weber carburetors for ease of maintenance, although the original MFI components will be included with the sale. The car has also been upgraded with an MSD electronic ignition module, Blaster coil, and a reworked distributor to complement the Weber carburetors. The seller notes valve adjustments, fuel filter replacements, and oil services have been completed every 5k miles and a new alternator was installed at 172k recorded miles.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a full car cover, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This car is a family heirloom. The history of this car is complete with no deviations in the past half-century.  A 30-page bound book with over 80 pictures of the restoration of the car will accompany the purchase. The 2 men who performed the restoration are featured in the book. They are proud of their work as I am also. The car was restored with the odometer reading 162,000 miles. The odometer now reads 183,000 miles.  it is mechanically flawless. I would not hesitate to personally deliver this car tomorrow to any destination in the continental U.S. When my aunt gave me this car 37 years ago, she told me 2 things... 1. "Take care of this car, and 2. DRIVE IT!" I have honored her wishes.   For the past 37 years, it has been stored inside heated garages & covered. it has not sat outside at night for more than a dozen times total. it has not been rained on this century, but it has been DRIVEN, NEVER RACED, BUT DRIVEN for pure pleasure. This car is all about being original. A set of FUCHS & re-installing the MFI and it is complete mechanically as 1972. It's a little "worn" but runs better than when it was new. IT WILL PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE, I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT.   (The MFI is boxed up & included in the sale.)”

@OSUPPETE in the listing you said "I would not hesitate to personally deliver this car tomorrow to any destination in the continental U.S. " Are you really open to delivering it or was that statement just a testament to it's reliability?

What was done at 162,000 miles for a 'restoration"? I see hood and back deck repainted. What else was done then? When was MFI replaced with Webers? Are they real Webers or PMO or another brand? I assume engine/trans has not had anything done ever? Any suspension work? Sorry if I missed this information if already noted. Thanks.

Wow, Jack-Robbins Porche-Audi is something I haven’t heard in ages. Would you have time to show the car if I came to Stillwater? I’m in the city.

@Coldbru The car came with factory air. During restoration a new compressor, hoses, pulleys & 2 auxiliary fans were added. Unfortunately, the AC blower/fan could not be repaired, a different blower was located & it also could not be made to work. After weeks of searching,
I simply gave up on AC

Are those air conditioning vents where the dash kneepads are… original to the car? Is that system original to the car?

@kltarga72 The engine is 2.4 liters, the typo has been corrected. Thank you.

  • OSUPPETE (seller) 1 year, 6 monthsago

That is a typo that I did not catch when I proof read the article. I apologize for any confusion. Thanks for catching that error. Let me go on record that the engine is ORIGINAL to the car and rebuilt with stock parts for a 2.4 liter.

  • kltarga72 1 year, 6 monthsago

You indicate the engine is a 2.2 liter. So the engine is not original?

  • OSUPPETE (seller) 1 year, 6 monthsago

The MFI was saved & goes with purchase of car. The cost to restore the unit was far more than my budget could handle.

  • twickes40 (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

I love the uniqueness of the 72. Such great cars. Wish it still had the MFI installed.
