Introduced as a successor to Mercedes-Benz’s W113 “Pagoda” SL, the 350SL, a part of the R107 series, offers refined interior features and advanced mechanical engineering for its era. Powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission, this 1972 example is finished in Horizon Blue over a black leather interior. It features a navy blue folding soft top, a body-color removable hardtop, fog lights, 14” steel wheels, power windows, a Becker Europa AM/FM radio, and more. This 350SL is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with approximately 70k miles showing on the odometer.

This example is finished in Horizon Blue and features a navy blue folding soft top, a body-color removable hardtop, slim chrome bumpers with overriders, twin round headlamps, fog lights, and polished aluminum trim. It rides on body-color 14” steel wheels wrapped in Pirelli P77 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior is appointed with bucket seats upholstered in black leather upholstery, complemented by matching door panels and dashboard trim. Amenities include power windows, air conditioning, black floor mats, and a Becker Europa AM/FM radio. The seller reports wear on the driver-side carpet, a soft top fabric that needs replacement, a non-functional center clock, and a functional air conditioning system that does not blow cold air. All other gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order with no warning lights illuminated.

Power comes from a 4.5-liter M117 V8 engine equipped with Bosch D-Jetronic electronic fuel injection, which delivers a factory-rated 180 HP to rear wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission. It has an independent double-wishbone suspension with coil springs and anti-roll bars up front and a semi-trailing arm setup in the rear, while power-assisted disc brakes facilitate stopping power at all four corners. During previous ownership, the car received a comprehensive service, which included refreshing the fuel injection system, installing a new fuel pump with updated hoses and filters, and draining and flushing the fuel tank.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a spare tire, hardtop removal levers, a hardtop cart, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL features the desirable short bumpers, a characteristic that sets it apart from later models. This vehicle comes with a rare matching Horizon Blue hard top and a Navy Blue soft top. The hard top includes a storage rack for easy handling. Recently, it underwent a thorough service, including a refreshed fuel injection system, and a new fuel pump with updated hoses and filters, also the fuel tank was drained and flushed. Even the original and desirable Becker radio is present and in working conditions.”

@spartansix Good morning, maybe not the best phrasing but the system on the car is blowing air when turned on, the switch works, and the system seems to be operational but just not blowing cold.
We explain this because its usually a lot simpler and cheaper to fix an AC system that's operational than a one that its not. We hope this helps

@S.tielens Good morning, the engine was never swapped or replaced

A functional air conditioning system that does not blow cold air?
    Is this a typo?
