Available for auction is this restored 1973 Mazda RX-2 finished in red over a black interior. Known as the “Capella Rotary” in Japan, the RX-2 helped introduce Mazda’s unique engine to the United States. This three-owner example comes equipped with its original Wankel 12A rotary engine, which sends power to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
The exterior has been repainted red with an accenting white “Mazda” livery that extends along the door panels. It rides on rotary-inspired rims that are dressed in Formula Vitour tires. Notable exterior details include chrome bumpers, a louvered hood, RE badging on the grille and front fenders, RX-2 badging on the rear fenders, and complementing yellow and clear double headlights. The seller states that the exterior is in overall good condition, with a couple of blemishes such as two rust spots on each rear fender. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior features black vinyl upholstery and is said to be in good condition. Features include a primer button for cold starts, a locking glove box, and a wooden three-spoke steering wheel. The seller notes that all gauges, electronics, and accessories work properly, sans the radio.
This RX-2 is powered by its original 1.2-liter 12A rotary engine, which came from the factory producing up to 130 HP and 115 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The RX-2 is stopped by a braking system consisting of front discs and rear drums. The seller reports that the car has had a tune-up within the last year.
This sale will include a clean title and spare tire.

@leonf I don't mind the car being sold to any buyer . The car has always been in the US.
hi Joshua (seller). Are you ok to sell this car to an international buyer? Plus, is this car a US- since-new-vehicle. Or has it spent time in other parts of the world (eg, the Caribbean?) in it's 50 years on the planet?
