A competition-focused version of the Lancia Fulvia Series II Coupe, the 1600 HF model was introduced for the 1970 model year featuring flared wheel arches and a more powerful 1,548cc V4 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. This 1972 example was factory-finished in Rosso Corsa and originally registered in Teramo, Italy before it was imported to the U.S. in 2019 and eventually purchased by the current owner in 2021. It has since undergone a complete mechanical restoration at a cost of approximately $36k including a full engine rebuild, an overhauled braking system, a new clutch, new Koni Classic shocks, and much more. Accompanied by service records and an Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI) Certificato di Identità, this Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey.
Based on the four-door Berlina saloon, the Fulvia Coupe was designed in-house by Piero Castagnero at Centro Stile Lancia. The Series II version included facelifted bodywork, and the high-performance 1600 HF model wears fender flares distinguishing it from the standard 1.3 Coupe. This example was factory-finished in Rosso Corsa and was repainted under previous ownership. The bumpers have been removed, and the current owner opted to remove the over-the-top racing stripe decal before a paint correction was performed. The car is equipped with an aluminum hood and decklid, a driver’s side mirror, Carello fog lamps, HF badging, a polished exhaust outlet, and 14” Cromodora wheels which were refinished in 2021 and mounted with new 175-width Michelin MXV tires. The seller adds that one of the headlight buckets was repaired and refinished in 2023, and a small paint blemish can be seen on the lower edge of the front passenger-side wheel well. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features a pair of black vinyl-covered low-back bucket seats with matching door panels and carpeting. Accessories include wood dashboard trim, a two-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel, analog Veglia instrument dials, a locking glove box, shoulder belts, and a heater. The seller notes the seat backrests were rebuilt in 2021.
Power comes from a 1,584cc narrow-angle V4 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle that drives the front wheels. The engine was removed from the car in 2023 and completely rebuilt including a new timing chain, tensioner, and rollers, new gaskets, distributor points, spark plugs, hoses, an electric fuel pump, a new airbox, sandblasted headers, radiator repair, a rebuilt oil pump, and repairs to the oil pan baffles. The upper transmission mount was repaired and a new clutch disc and pilot bearing were installed. The suspension was overhauled with new control arm and sway bar bushings, refinished control arms, new ball joints, and Koni Classic shocks. The rear hubs were rebuilt with new bearings, new CV boots were installed, and the braking system was overhauled with rebuilt calipers, a new brake booster, and a master cylinder. In 2024, the car was further serviced with a new battery tie-down bracket, a new battery, a refinished valve cover, and rebuilt Solex carburetors.
This sale will include original manufacturer’s literature, service records, a spare tire, a toolkit, an Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI) Certificato di Identità, a previous Italian libretto, and a clean New Jersey title.
The seller would like you to know: “This car is like a little jewel. It runs so strong and is just a blast to drive. I would compare it to a go-cart on steroids and is fun in every way. This particular example is an exceptional one and has been gone through in every detail.”

@Timo24 Sorry the delay in responding. Here are the answers to your questions.
1) There are no current leaks on the car.
2) The glass in in overall excellent condition. There are a few nicks / chips on the front windshield, but very minimal. There are a few scratches on the rear window. Regarding the side windows, no noticeable blemishes.
3) Side windows roll up and down with ease. Felt is intact and they track properly without any looseness.
4) The rear windows pop out from a lever in the rear lower corner. They function properly and seal properly.
5) I was told that it was painted its original color, but do not have any documentation to prove that.
Let me know if there are any other questions. Thanks
@Ambassador-Auto Thanks again for the fast, helpful reply.
Here are a few more questions I have:
1) Are there any oil, gasoline, brake fluid, transmission fluid, or radiator coolant leaks on this Fulvia? Any fluid leaks whatsoever?
2) What kind of shape is the glass in? Any scratches or nicks?
3) How do the driver and passenger side door windows roll up and down, how is their operation? Do they track up and down correctly? Typically the driver’s side window ‟felts” wear out first because of increased usage. This can cause scratches in the glass and the window to become out of alignment when rolling it all the way up to the closed position.
4) How do the rear 1/4 pop out vent windows work? Do they open, close and seal properly?
5) What color did this Fulvia originally come in from the factory?
That should do it for now.
Thanks again!
@Timo24 My pleasure. I am very happy to help you coordinate shipping and have several shipping sources. My preferred carrier is PlyCar (they are only enclosed), but I work with many of them and more than happy to help with your choice.
@Ambassador-Auto Thank you for the prompt reply and information. This is very helpful. After the purchase, do you provide recommendations/references for a secure, reliable, enclosed, and nationwide shipping services?
@Timo24 Thanks for the questions and thank you about your comment on the car!
To answer your question, they are not screens, they are red plastic reflectors. They are set in from behind and are mounted using a rubber style caulk. That holds them securely but could easily be removed without any damage to the body or opening.

@Ambassador-Auto This is a very nice, original looking example! I have a detail question regarding the mesh/screen material that is mounted on the inside of the front, lower fenders, behind each of the openings that are normally used for the side front bumper mounts.
1) How is this mesh/screen attached to the the inside of the fender is it welded, epoxied, etc...?
2) What is this mesh/screen material made of, a plastic, metal, nylon...etc..?
Thank you,
@dinodo Thanks for the questions. The work that was performed on the car was done by Graham Engineering, one of the best shops in the country who is known for custom fabrication and Pebble Beach restorations. He did a compression test on the car, and everything was well within spec and in the 150 range. Photos # 293 to 310 in the gallery are extremely detailed invoices for all the work that was complete by them. It lists every single item that was examined and repaired and how it was completed. If you had any questions regarding his work or findings. They are one of the most trusted detailed oriented shops I have ever encountered and would be happy to discuss their work. When the compression numbers were as good as they were, he felt there was no need to replace those specific items.
Regarding the paint, the owner only did a paint correction and removed a stripe. The paintwork was done in Europe by a previous owner and there is no indication of any prior rust, but we did not know the car when the paint was completed.
I hope that helps.
Couple of questions for the Seller:
FULL ENGINE REBUILD typically includes new pistons, rings, valves, valve guides, main bearing. Were these items replaced during the rebuild?
Is there any indication of rust repair when the car was repainted?
Thank you.
