The Citroën H-Type series, including the HY model, comprises panel vans and light trucks produced by Citroën from 1947 to 1981. Designed for simplicity and cost-efficiency, these front-wheel drive vehicles reflect the design principles of the Citroën 2CV, featuring a frameless, unitary body. This 1972 HY, imported from France to Canada in 1995, is finished in grey with tan upholstery. Previously used as an ice cream and gourmet truck for two upscale restaurants, this iconic van is now being offered for auction out of Canada.
The HY features a distinctive and practical exterior design with corrugated steel body panels for added strength and rigidity. Its front end has a flat grille and circular headlights, while the high, boxy roofline maximizes interior space. It also features rear-hinged front doors, sliding side doors, and rear barn doors for convenient access to the cargo area. This example is finished in grey with white accents. The minimalistic cabin presents tan upholstered seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, Veglia instrumentation, and a locking glovebox. The van's high roofline and spacious cargo area offer plenty of room for transporting goods. Visited the HY yesterday, while crafting Next lot landing soon ( matching number Silver jade 1969 Shelby GT500 Cabriolet with the 428 cid) to check & Report tires tread, as requested. 4 Vredestein, 1/4 inch remaining. All Good.
It is 52 years old Rig. Not advertised as Museum Quality / Condition 1, though, but as an Honest iconic -Super Rare in North America- even in birthplace country, partner in crimes. It has Patina, the one you can’t fake. Some surface rust you can treat/ brush away.

On didn't see any surface rust ON the vin tag. Everything around it was rusty, but not the tag
@AlexBert Not to be a nitpick, but every wheel and bumper not to mention the radiator has surface rust. More on the undercarriage as well.

I’ve noticed quite a bit of surface rust, has any of it caused and serious damage? Any idea of the tread left on the tires? Does this have a spare tire included? Is there a reserve on the bidding price? Is shipping to the USA an option? Thank you for your help.
@MANDREWS @MANDREW Not Selling a turn-key business, but a Super Cool rig, that will Attract / be a Real clients Magnet 🧲 at a fraction of the cost of a Sprinter. A Plummer will have to be hired to double check the sink and all elements that goes around. Everything inside are goodies, included. WYSIWYG. What You see is What You Get, Bonus!
PS: I haven’t checked is the freezer is working, if this does this or that. 🎬 2 : Bonuses!!!
Does the ice cream freezer work? If there is now external power, is there a big battery bank it runs off of? How does the sink work? Is there a water pump and reservoir? Or do you rely on outside water hose and pressure?

- and how high is the lower edge of the top hatch when open?
- how many HP has it (around)?
- are there some holes or similar in the body or underbody?
- is it absolutely watertight in all places?
- are there leaks from the engine or gearbox?
- what is the voltage, 6 or 12 V?
- is there an external socket on the body for 230 V external power?
- when was the last service for the engine?
- can we assume that the number of kilometers is correct?
