Replacing the carbureted 2002ti model for the 1971 model year, the 2002tii featured a more powerful engine with a new fuel injection system along with a refined suspension, larger front disc brakes, and a longer axle ratio for higher top speeds. This 1972 example is finished in green over a brown interior and benefits from over $26k in documented maintenance since 2000 including an engine and transmission rebuild in 2023. This classic BMW is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
This 2002tii is said to have been previously refinished in green from its original Sahara color and features chrome on the bumpers, trim pieces, door handles, and grille. Other details include a polished fuel filler cap, a chrome driver’s side mirror, front vent windows, pop-out rear quarter windows, and BMW E30 14” bottle cap alloy wheels. The seller indicates the tires were replaced in 2022 and the paint shows some chips, discoloration, and imperfections. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, you will find a brown vinyl interior with basketweave pattern seat inserts. The front seats were reupholstered under prior ownership and the seller notes some discoloration on the driver’s seat and a small hole on the headliner.
The 2002tii is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection. Up to 140 HP and 130 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. The engine and transmission are said to have been rebuilt in 2023 and service records are included in the sale.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, a car cover, service records, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Presented on a very elegant combination of green over a brown interior, and with a complete chrome trim, this 2000Tii is a very solid driver that’s ready for the road with no excuses. More than $26k was invested in documented maintenance from the year 2000 up to this date. A summary of these records is available on request. Also, a big folder of non-cataloged records from the 90’s is available. A fine tune-up and a paint polish were done in preparation for the sale. The injection system works flawlessly, cold-start is perfect and quick, the car response is excellent through every gear with no hesitations, and all the electrics and gauges work as they should. The paint shows some defects on close inspection, most probably due to a low-quality old paint job. The undercarriage is extremely solid with no signs of rust.”
