This 1971 Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi Bus was built in Brazil with a 15-window configuration and is said to have undergone a full restoration during previous ownership including an exterior repaint with new glass and trim, a replacement 1.6L flat-four engine, a reupholstered interior, and more. It comes finished in orange and white over a beige vinyl interior and was acquired by the seller in February of 2022. The previous owner is said to have replaced the battery, cleaned the carburetors, set the timing and valve lash, changed the oil, bled the brakes, and lubricated the suspension. This classic Type 2 Kombi Bus is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Illinois.
The exterior is finished in orange and white with a split windshield, chrome trim, pop-out side windows, white bumpers, chrome side mirrors, side air inlets, a locking fuel door, chrome-ringed headlights, and double passenger doors. It is said to have been repainted during the restoration under prior ownership along with new glass, trim, rubber, and seals. Detailed images are provided in the gallery. The 14” steel wheels are mounted with VW chrome hubcaps and Firestone whitewall tires that are due for replacement.
The interior features three rows of seating for up to nine occupants including front, middle, and rear benches trimmed in beige vinyl. Features include an upholstered bulkhead, black all-weather floor mats, shoulder belts for the front passengers, a two-spoke steering wheel, courtesy lights, grab handles for the rear passengers, and a full-sized spare mounted behind the front seats.
This Type 2 bus received a 1.6L dual-port flat-four engine that sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Stopping power is derived from front disc brakes and rear drums. The seller reports the battery was replaced, the carburetors were cleaned, the timing and valve lash were set, the braking system has been bled, the suspension was lubricated, and the engine oil was changed all under prior ownership.
This sale will include a clean Texas title.
