A joint development between Porsche and Volkswagen, the 914 was offered as Porsche’s entry-level sports car featuring a mid-mounted air-cooled engine and distinctive Targa bodywork built by Karmann. This 1971 Porsche 914 came factory-finished in Bahia Red over black leatherette upholstery and features optional fog lights, a center armrest console, and a 5-speed manual transaxle. It was acquired by the seller about a year ago after it had been sitting idle for some time and has since been made roadworthy with a full service including new ignition components, rebuilt brakes, a fuel pump, new tires, and more. This classic Porsche 914 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This 914 was previously refinished in its original color of Bahia Red (13) and features optional front fog lights, chrome bumpers, dual chrome tailpipes, a polished driver’s side mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, black vinyl sail panel covers, and a removable Targa roof panel. It rides on OEM 15” Baby Fuchs wheels with newly mounted Petlas Elegant PT3II tires. A matching spare wheel is included. The seller notes some minor imperfections in the paint including chips, fading, and swirl marks. Four holes are also present on the trunk lid from a previously installed spoiler. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The black leatherette interior features a pair of newly reupholstered leather seats with houndstooth cloth centers. An optional center console armrest came equipped from the factory. Other accessories include a Porsche-crested gear knob, pleated basketweave leatherette door panels, manual window rollers, a leather steering wheel cover, a heater, and a sound system with a JVC head unit and speakers. The seller notes some signs of wear on the dashboard and carpeting. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Power comes from a mid-mounted air-cooled 1.7-liter flat-four engine that drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Under the seller’s care, a service was completed including oil and filter changes, a new fuel filter, ignition coil, spark plugs, a brake master cylinder, and four rebuilt brake calipers.

This sale will include a spare tire, a jack, a Porsche Production Specifications Certificate, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a very nice driver's car, not perfect by any means but a car that is ready to enjoy now while the new owner can make some improvements along the way.”

@Posrsr Good afternoon, please note we uploaded every possible picture and video to this auction.
Pictures 128 to 140 are for the undercarriage, and pictures 141 and 142 were just uploaded showing floors without carpets.

I’d actually like to bid on this. But without any pictures of the typical problem areas it’s just to much of a gamble. It’s unlikely to happen at this late hour but I’d sure like to see underside pix. As well as pictures of carpeted areas with the carpet pulled back or removed. Otherwise, we have to assume the worst.

This 914 is an example of a “20’ car.” It’s captures your attention at 20 feet away, then it draws you in to see more. Thankfully the photos show details and the true condition of the vehicle that most enthusiasts will quickly recognize. Pay attention to the right side, notice the misalignment of the door. Look at the one photo that gives one a glimpse of the battery area. Look at the photo that shows the open right door and focus where the upper fender joins the front pillar above the hinge and below the cowl. Once one observes these areas they should come to the conclusion of the high cost of parts and intense amount of labor to bring this 914 back to safe driving condition. This 914 is clearly has potential, but it’s going to be labor intensive and costly. It’s one to get as a fixer upper, but with its sagging body, it may not be safe as a daily driver.

Hi, please add some under car pictures specifically re: Rust on floor pans, lifting up carpets for rust checks, the H*LL Hole (there is one side shot that shows some rust) and any possible shots for underneath the lower runners. It appears one has a phillips head screw holding it onto the car- these are problem spots that everyone is going to ask about. Looks like there are a lot of lifts in the beautiful shop, so hopefully can roll it on easy. Also a driving video is always something people ask about. Ty
