This 1971 Porsche 911T Targa is finished in Silver Metallic over a Black interior and features a 2.2-liter flat-six engine with dual Zenith carburetors and a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car is said to have remained under the care of two previous owners in California and has traveled approximately 103k miles based on the corresponding records. Accompanied by its original blue license plates, this classic air-cooled Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This 911T is finished in Silver Metallic (8010) with a removable black roof panel. The car features 911S-style gold lettering on the rear decklid and brushed silver Targa bar as well as aluminum rocker panel covers and chrome bumperettes with rubber overriders. Other details include front vent windows, chrome headlight rings, a fender-mounted antenna, a driver’s side mirror, and 15” Fuchs alloy wheels. The seller notes the car was previously refinished in its original color and some minor imperfections can be seen including small bubbles on the right rear quarter panel. The car rides on an older set of Michelin tires. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.
The cabin is lined with Charcoal loop carpeting and Black leatherette upholstery featuring basketweave pattern inserts on the seat centers, dashboard, and door panels. Equipment includes a leather steering wheel cover, manual window rollers, an aftermarket cassette stereo, and aftermarket speakers mounted in the door panels and on the rear parcel shelf. The seller notes the door panels have been reupholstered and the carpets are believed to have been replaced.
Power comes from an air-cooled 2.2-liter flat-six engine paired with dual Zenith carburetors and a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes the carburetors have been rebuilt and refinished, the engine received a valve adjustment, and the fuel tank was flushed, boiled, and refurbished with all new components.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, some documentation, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “If you're looking for a fun driver 1971 T Targa, this is the car. A very presentable weekend cruiser drives. It drives very smoothly, fires right up, Zenith carburetors have had a deep restoration, the engine is smooth and ready to go.”

@ausflug those works done recently were done by my mechanic at his private shop. I will be furnishing the documents with the sale.
Thank you for your quick response.
Your listing states the carburetors have been rebuilt and refinished, the engine received a valve adjustment, and the fuel tank was flushed, boiled, and refurbished with all new components. you have provided a photo with receipts however none of the details on the receipts are viewable.
Would you please provide photos of the receipts corresponding to the work stated performed?
@ausflug Hello
As for the drivers door. I was told it was painted due to chipping on the outer edge
Yes it turns off after it warms up.
Targa fits nicely. I've not had any issues with water intrusion
Windows work well on both doors
All gauges seem to work properly and I don't believe the clock works
What you see in the photos is what comes with the car. No jack or tools.
Thank you for your questions.

Questions for the seller:
-with regards to the driver side door mismatched color, is this due to prior damage or an accident?
-in the cold start video the oil light stays on after start up-does oil light go off after the engine warms up?
-does the Targa top/rubber seals seal properly to keep water out?
-do both window cranks/regulators operate properly to fully open/close and seal with the Targa top?
-do all dash gauges operate properly?
-does the clock operate?
-listing mentions “manuals” come with the sale, are there more than the 1 manual shown in the photo gallery?
-how many keys come with the sale?
-does jack come with the sale?
-does tool kit come with the sale?

Dober is correct about the difficulty in matching silver metallic paint, normally a body shop would repaint the entire side to get everything to match if not the entire car. I understand that sometimes photos can make something look better or worse. That is the negative to bidding with photos rather than inspecting a car in person.
@AirCooledEddie good on ya to help.. 😀
@Dober it's much more pronounced in the photos than real life. For whatever that's worth.
Hey Dober, I wanted to take you off the hook on the problem with the door
Bid in the amount of $20,000
Dangggg wish you didn't mention the drivers door now its really bugging me. A repaint to match for a silver metallic is a tough feat also.
@NickW21 hello happy 4th!! I have the compression results that were performed today listed below with the inspection report
Performed compression check on 1971 911T Targa. Compression test was performed with fully charged battery, on warmed engine. Each cylinder was given exactly 15 compression strokes with fully depressed throttle with the following results.
#1-150 psi
#2-148 psi
#3-150 psi
#4-150 psi
#5-150 psi
#6-145 psi
I would consider these compression numbers to be excellent results. 145-155 is considered ideal stock compression for a 911T engine. And the variation of only 5 psi on one cylinder and 2 psi on another is about as good as it gets.

Any compression/leak down tests results you can share?

@bigvitty4u Fair enough that they are original to the car but those are late seventies plates. Nice looking car none the less.
Hello everyone. I've added several additional photos of the car showing the targa top removed and from some different angles. Happy Saturday!!

Hello welcome to the auction. I'm here to answer any questions you may have.
@AntiFragile I see what you mean. I would say it's much more pronounced in the photos than real life however there is a slight difference. I would say it's more the metallic.
What date where the carburators restored? tnx!
The driver’s door panel seems to be a significantly darker shade of silver in the walk around video. Can you please comment if this is just the lighting or if the color is really off. Thanks.
Bid in the amount of $8,500
I don't think they are the original license plates.
