Available for auction is a 1971 Husqvarna 250 Cross engine that once belonged to the legendary Steve McQueen. This meticulously preserved engine holds an incredible historical value, offering an unparalleled connection to the iconic "King of Cool" himself. It serves as both a coveted collectible and a testament to McQueen's deep passion for motorcycles, presenting a truly exceptional opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors alike.

McQueen's profound love for Husqvarna motorcycles is widely known, and the personal connection he had with this engine elevates it to a truly extraordinary piece of collector memorabilia. Carefully maintained throughout the years, the engine remains in excellent condition. It was removed from an early 1971 motorcycle that was owned by Steve McQueen after experiencing an engine failure. Its pristine state makes it suitable for display purposes or as a valuable addition to any comprehensive vintage motorcycle collection.

According to the service report, the engine encountered a failure in April of 1971, merely one month after McQueen acquired it, and had only been operated for a total of three hours.

The seller explains that they obtained the 1971 Husqvarna from a friend of Steve McQueen, and it came with several spare parts, including this engine. While conducting research on the engine's serial number, they discovered that it belonged to a different Husqvarna that was once owned by McQueen. Initially, the plan was to locate the matching frame, as the accompanying documentation indicated the frame number associated with this engine, and reconstruct the bike. However, this endeavor was never completed, and as a result, the engine has been displayed as an art piece ever since.

Don't miss your opportunity to own an authentic piece of Steve McQueen's history. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.

David, you are correct, starting around 1965 McQuern started transferring his vehicles to Solar Productions but I’ve had some bikes under his name and home address. I used to have another document for this motor but I can’t find it, and I don’t remember if it was under Solar or McQueen’s name.

Hi, interesting piece. All of the McQueen bikes I have seen have been registered to Solar Productions which was his production company. Is there any documentation other than ther service receipt?
    Thanks,
    David

@millstoneman McQueen was known for riding his bikes hard and this motor is a proof of it. I’ve heard stories of him cracking some frames too, and Husqvarna promptly replaced them, of course.

Pretty cool I guess. An engine owned by Steve McQueen. One could imagine with this engine failure how McQueen frantically kicked this engine over trying to get it to fire, all the while cursing at it... Not sure how impressed guests gathering in your garage would be observing this. Maybe if it wasn't painted and still had McQueens sweat and finger prints on it.
