Produced between 1957 and 1975, the Fiat 500 is celebrated throughout the vintage car world for its compact size and distinctive design. In 1968, Fiat introduced the 500L or Lusso as the higher-end version featuring chrome bumper guards, additional storage space, and a premium trim package. Finished in red over tan upholstery, this 500L is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This 500L has been refinished in its current shade of red. Details include a retractable black soft top, tubular chrome bumper guards, bright chrome trim, bright window trim, bullet-style rearview mirrors, and a vented engine cover. It rides on 12” steel wheels wrapped in Carlisle Sport Trail LH tires. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin presents tan vinyl upholstery which spans the front bucket seats, rear bench, and door panels. Equipment also includes a black dashboard, a black two-spoke steering wheel, a matching shift knob, roll-up windows, a center console storage bin, black floor mats with red piping, and tan carpets. The seller notes the original key and drum remain in the vehicle, although an external key is used for the electrical start.

This 500L is equipped with a rear-mounted 499cc air-cooled inline-twin engine, which sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller states that the carburetor has been rebuilt, a new battery has been installed, and the spark plugs, ignition coil, and condenser have been replaced. Additionally, the fluids, filters, and brakes are said to have been serviced, along with the installation of two new front brake drums.

This sale will include a flood-damaged/rebuilt title.

The seller would like you to know: “We are delighted to offer this beautifully maintained 1971 Fiat 500L, an iconic piece of Italian automotive history. This is a wonderful opportunity to own a classic Fiat that’s ready to be driven and enjoyed.”

@abarthallday Hello, and thank you for your comment. Those wires were already fixed.

@lsl72 Good morning, yes of course.
The car was sent to auction following exposure to a 17-inch flood. The damage was minimal, with the primary work required being on the brakes. The car is currently running and driving fantastically, as can be seen in the videos, and it needs nothing at the moment.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Can you elaborate and detail on the “flood-damaged/rebuilt title”?

  • abarthallday (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

You might want to fix those 2 wires hanging down that probably go to the brake pedal light switch. Not a good look on how this car was prepped or reconditioned.
