The original Nissan Z-car, the Fairlady Z (S30) was introduced as the brand’s halo car for the 1970 model year and was marketed in the U.S. as the Datsun 240Z until 1973. This 1971 example was equipped with an upgraded 2.8-liter L28 inline-six engine under prior ownership and features a 5-speed manual transmission, front disc brakes, an aluminum radiator, an ANSA exhaust system, and dual SU carburetors. Said to have been cared for by only two owners, this Datsun was purchased by the seller in 2020 and is now being offered for auction out of California.
This 240Z is said to have been refinished in silver during the 1990s and features chrome bumpers and exterior trim, recessed headlamps, a driver’s side mirror, a rear fender-mounted antenna, Z-emblems on the C-pillars, a locking gas door, polished dual vertically-stacked exhaust tips, and 14” wheels dressed in Dunlop tires. The seller notes some cosmetic imperfections including cracks and bubbles in the paint. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is appointed with black vinyl and cloth upholstery spanning the front bucket seats and door panels. Accessories include a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, Datsun-branded door sill guards, a center console armrest, manual window cranks, a locking glovebox, a heated rear window, and aftermarket speakers paired with a Kenwood CD stereo. The seller notes that the dashboard lights and air conditioning system are nonfunctional.
A larger 2.8-liter L28 inline-six was installed under prior ownership and sends power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine features an upgraded aluminum radiator, dual SU carburetors, and an ANSA exhaust system. The car is also equipped with power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes, rack and pinion steering, and independent suspension with a front stabilizer bar. The seller indicates routine maintenance items were addressed during their ownership including replacements of the engine oil, spark plugs, ignition wires, thermostat, and clutch master and slave cylinders.
This sale will include sales literature, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “As the seller, I just wanted to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to my car's auction and let you know that I am here to answer all questions to the best of my ability. Thank you and good luck bidding.”

Hello,
The car is too old for a CARFAX report. Here is the VIN: HLS3024677
Thx
Hope all is well.
Would you be willing to upload the carfax report or provide the Vin for this vehicle?
@993tts30 There are plenty of bottom phots in the photo gallery. Thank you.
Silver is not the original color to the car. The original color is orange. Plus, as far as I can tell there is no evidence of any prior collision damage. Please refer to photo gallery to see the numerous photos of the car’s underside. Thank you.
Bid in the amount of $3,000
Is silver the original factory color? Any evidence of rust or prior collision damage? Can we get photos of the underside of the vehicle?
Thank you
Did I miss any bottom photos? Would be nice to drive it to Monterey next week!
