Available for auction is this 1970 Volkswagen Type 2 (T1) Bus finished in two-tone Lotus White and Turquoise. Hand-built in Brazil by the specialists at Qualicars, this 1970 example was completely restored in 2021 including a 23-window conversion, engine rebuild, custom paintwork, a reupholstered leather interior, and much more. The result of over 1k hours of painstaking labor, this classic Volkswagen Bus is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio.
During the restoration the body was completely disassembled, stripped to bare metal, repaired, chemically treated, and refinished in two-tone Lotus White and Turquoise paint prior to thorough polishing. Originally a 15-window Bus, this T1 has also been converted to a more desirable 23-window configuration. A pair of custom luggage racks are mounted to the roof along with a matching side ladder. The 14″ steel wheels come fitted with chrome hubcaps and Firestone whitewall tires.
The cabin was completely disassembled and fitted with new grey and white leather upholstery along with new metal and wood finishes, instrumentation, and a new headliner. Equipment includes dual-row bench seats, pop-out safari windows, a manually operated sunroof, seatbelts, and a vintage-style Bluetooth radio paired with JBL speakers. There is no heating or air conditioning system present, although the original overhead cabin ventilation unit remains in place.
Power comes from an air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four carbureted engine that drives the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual gearbox. The engine has been fully rebuilt and bears the serial number BF18468. The brakes and suspension were also overhauled during the restoration using all new and rebuilt parts. The mileage shown on the odometer is said to reflect the distance traveled since the completion of the restoration and engine rebuild. Images of the undercarriage are available for reference as well as some restoration documents.
This sale will include documentation and a photo book from the restoration along with a clean title. This freshly restored VW Bus is just waiting to be driven and enjoyed by a new owner, do not let this opportunity pass you by.
