Available for auction is this 1970 Volkswagen Type 14 Karmann Ghia finished in white over a red vinyl interior. The coach-built Karmann Ghia was produced by Volkswagen between 1955 and 1974 and combined the robust chassis and mechanicals of the Type 1 Beetle with the striking Italian styling of Carrozzeria Ghia. This 1970 example was acquired from its second owner, who purchased the car in 1974. The car was recently detailed and serviced with a new carburetor, a tune-up, and more. This classic VW survivor is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
The body of the Karmann Ghia was styled by the Italian design house Carrozzeria Ghia and was hand built by the German coachbuilder Karmann. For the 1970 model year, the Karmann Ghia was updated with larger turn signals and taillights as well as integrated reverse lights. Details include chrome bumpers with overriders, pop-out rear windows, a single side mirror, dual exhaust outlets, a louvered decklid, Karmann badging, and a set of optional 15” Riviera wheels. This example is said to retain its original white paint and shows some chips and scratches commensurate with its age. The seller adds it was recently treated to full paint decontamination followed by polishing and an application of ceramic coating. Paint meter readings are provided in the gallery and the seller describes the car's finish as being original along with the metal floor pans.
The cabin is upholstered in red vinyl with basketweave inserts on the seating surfaces along with matching door panels and black carpets. The seller reports that the cabin remains mostly original and in great condition with the dashboard replaced in 1997. A small crack has been noted in the wooden dashboard panel. Amenities include a heater, an upgraded Bluetooth radio, roll-up windows, and three-point seatbelts.
Power comes from an air-cooled carbureted 1,600cc 4-cylinder engine which drives the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transaxle. Recent service is said to include a new carburetor, an engine tune-up including new spark plugs, and an oil and filter change. The seller adds that service records are available dating back to 1974.
This sale will include owner's literature and a clean title.

Something about the white on red leather interior. Definitely the spec to have.
I’ve rarely ever seen a 100% original paint car. I would favour this over a perfectly repainted car any day.
It gives it character and you know whats underneath the paint. This one should do really well. GLWA
Great original car, almost impossible to find a clean example that’s been taken care of. A true time capsule!

Great looking car. Can never go wrong with a white on red. Very hard to find a Ghia in good condition nowadays that are not automatic, or modded out.
