Considered among the most capable and robust off-road vehicles of all time, the 40-Series Land Cruiser was first produced in 1960 to rival the American Jeep and British Land Rover. This 1970 example comes finished in green over grey upholstery and features rear bench seats as well as a 3-speed manual transmission. Acquired by the current owner in 2010 and fitted with upgraded shocks and heavy-duty leaf springs, this reportedly lifelong California car is now being offered for auction.
This FJ40 comes finished in green with a white hard top and a matching front grille. A Bimini top is also included, and this example rides on a set of aftermarket wheels dressed in Pirelli tires. Equipment includes a rear ambulance-style door, a rear-mounted spare tire, and a newly installed winch. The seller notes some slight surface rust, additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is appointed with grey vinyl upholstery and is reported to have been completely refurbished to factory specifications and fitted with new rollbar covers. The seller adds that a rarely optioned factory rear bench seat is equipped. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
This FJ40 is powered by a 4.2-liter single-carbureted 2F inline-six engine. Power is sent to the rear wheels or all four wheels through a 3-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Performance modifications include upgraded shocks and heavy-duty leaf springs. The seller adds that the battery was recently replaced along with the shocks, brakes, and master brake cylinder. A recent oil service was also carried out.
This sale will include a clean title and some spare parts.

Now THAT’S a high lift jack! This looks to be just right - good enough condition to know it’ll get you home but not so nice as to prohibit use as intended.
