This purpose-built 1970 Porsche 914-6 race car is said to have regularly competed in the VARA and HSR series from 2011-2014 prior to the seller’s purchase about 6 years ago. Originally a standard 914-4, this example now carries a Supertec-built 2.5L short-stroke flat-six carbureted engine mated to a custom 901 gearbox with a limited-slip differential, and is said to produce up to 244 HP while weighing in at just 1890 lbs. dry. Having been prepped, tested, and tuned at Buttonwillow Racetrack by the seller in 2019, this highly competitive 914-6 race car is now being offered for auction out of California with just under 27 hours logged on the engine since its most recent overhaul.
All of the bodywork on this example has been converted to light fiberglass and painted blue. The fenders, quarter panels, bumpers, hood, and decklid are all installed with quick-release fasteners for ease of maintenance. The windshield has been deleted and the fenders and quarter panels are of 914-6 GT dimensions. It currently rides on a set of 7”/8” orange-painted Fuchs wheels with Hoosier slick tires.
The interior has been completely stripped and converted to a racing cockpit with a fire suppression system, roll cage, MOMO steering wheel, a Stack LCD dash display, and a racing bucket seat. Due to age, the fuel cell bladder, seat belts, and fire suppression system would need to be serviced or replaced according to the seller to pass technical specifications at an HSR or VARA event.
The original motor in this 914 has been replaced with a Supertec-built 2.5 L short-stroke carbureted flat-six engine. It is paired with a custom-built 901 4-speed gearbox with a side-shift linkage, limited-slip differential, and modified gear ratios. The car's suspension setup utilizes Fox shocks with external reservoirs while retaining torsion bars for the front suspension. The front sway bar is fully adjustable, and the rear coilovers are ride-height adjustable. Damping is adjustable at all four corners. The engine is said to have 26.9 hours logged since the last major overhaul.
This race car will be sold on a bill of sale. For any track enthusiast looking to participate in vintage racing, this fully built 914-6 makes an excellent choice.

@gjelliott Per the description: "Supertec-built 2.5L short-stroke flat-six carbureted engine mated to a custom 901 gearbox with a limited-slip differential, and is said to produce up to 244 HP while weighing in at just 1890 lbs."
The car has PMO carburetors. It produced 244hp on the dyno when the engine was new. It now has just under 27 hours of run time.
@mike9146gt18 The engine is built on a mag case.
