The Porsche 914-6 GT was the race configured version of the 914, with steel boxed fender flares, 911S brakes, extra chassis stiffening, a front oil cooler, and fiberglass bumpers and deck lids. This 1970 Porsche 914-6 was converted into a 914-6 GT tribute by Patrick Motorsports, who stripped the vehicle down to the bare chassis, which was then given an acid bath. Patrick Motorsports designed and built a full chassis reinforcement & half roll cage system with reinforced suspension pick-up points, added hand-crafted steel fenders, and lightweight GT-style bodywork. After a rotisserie paint job, a rebuilt 2.0L engine was fitted, as well as a rebuilt 901 transmission. The suspension and brakes were upgraded as well, and the interior has been stripped and equipped for motorsport. With an engine time of 22 hours and about 6 hours of track use since the completion of the build, this 1970 914-6 GT tribute is now being sold on a title by the seller based out of Texas.
This 914-6 was repainted in Dupont Imron yellow epoxy paint after the chassis was stripped down to bare metal, acid dipped, and prepped with Dupont primer/sealer. The front and rear bumpers were painted in blue and red, and all leading edges are said to have received the application of 3M paint protection film. Under the bodywork, Patrick Motorsports designed a built a custom full chassis reinforcement & half roll cage system with reinforced suspension pick-up points, made from 1.75” outer diameter tubing on the main hoop, and 1.50” outer diameter tubing on the rest of the system, which has all been painted matching yellow. Exterior equipment includes hand-built steel GT-style fender flares, a lightweight GT-style front hood, a GT-style rear deck lid, GT-style bumpers, GT-style rockers, a GT-style front valence, Hella driving lights, a front tow hook, custom dual exhaust outlets, headlights, and tail lights with aluminum housings. The factory 15” Fuchs wheels measured 7” wide in the front and 8” in the rear, and are mounted with new Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires measuring 205/50/15 in the front and 225/50/15 in the rear. Detailed images including photos taken during the rebuild are provided in the gallery.
The interior has been stripped and prepped for motorsport, equipped with a Sparco Pro 2000 racing seat with a 6-point Schroth harness, a detachable MOMO steering wheel, and a Safecraft 10 lb. fire suppression system with 4 discharge points, in addition to a hardwired lap transponder, an hour meter, a charging/jump coupler, a Coolsuit controller, and an AIM MXL Sport dash system with GPS and built-in track mapping, which are housed inside a custom Alcantara dashboard built by Patrick Motorsports. The entire vehicle has been rewired using aircraft-grade Mil-spec wire with RayChem DR25 protective coating, is powered by an Odyssey PC925 gel battery, and all fuses are located in the dashboard for easy access.
This 914-6 GT tribute is powered by a rebuilt twin-plug 2.0L flat 6-cylinder engine, which is said to produce around 200 HP. The build specs are as follows:
The 5-speed 901 side-shift transaxle routes power to the rear wheels, and has been rebuilt with:
The suspension and brakes have been upgraded with:
This 914-6 has had a complete weight balance, set up & alignment. The sale will include some documentation and clean title.

@CScrogham Indeed they do! I don’t have a total log of how many hours and time was put into this build, but I know replicating this level of specification from Patrick Motorsports is not exactly an easy task, and rather expensive as well. The dollars certainly justify the build quality and attention to details in my opinion though! Thanks for the comment, and I look forward to working with the future owner!

Good morning everyone,
Thank you again for following the auction of my 914-6 GT Tribute, and I'm excited to close out the auction today and have the vehicle go to a great new home that hopefully can put it to a bit better use than I've been able to! I'll be standing by through the close of the auction for any last minute questions and to assist, so please feel free to comment or DM and I'd love to get some questions answered for everyone. Best of luck to all bidders, she's a phenomenal example!!
@Clint930 I have indeed street driven the vehicle, and currently have valid plates/registration with a Montana Title under my LLC. I had a similar question earlier in the thread that I had answered, but to put it in a nutshell, 'street legal' varies from state to state, and I would recommend checking with your local authorities regarding that question and what is required in your area. Thank you!!

Is it street legal today? You mention driving to Cars & Coffee so can only assume it is.

@David23 Thank you for the thoughts, and I couldn't agree more - hard to find a better facility than Patrick Motorsports to handle every aspect of a 914 build of this caliber! And yes, the engine certainly brings it all together beautifully!
@Foxtrot You are indeed correct, the original door panel did have some door and window structure that was removed for weight savings on this build. If the future owner felt so inclined, they could certainly have the roll cage door bars added back in relatively easily in order to provide some better protection depending on their intended use. For me, the ease of being able to get in and out of the car was more important than some rather minimal door structure that the vehicle started with as OEM (or having to hop over the cage door bars), since this vehicle is not a full time racecar for me, but rather blended street and track use. Thanks again for your keen eye and commentary, much appreciated!
Amazing car, it doesn’t get better than having PM do the build. A lot to be commended about the appropriate 2.0 engine .
@Seller I own a 914 track car; fastest recorded teener at Road Atlanta (all time)...164.3 mph - it is built to give me at least a fighting chance. No guarantees. I also sold #1670 (Six) a couple years ago; yes, the originals had both inner/outer door structure along with window structure - it is actually quite substantial. The doors then became even more substantial in 1974 with
an additional cross-member.
Not trying to muck up your ad ; however, as it sits - I wouldn't drive it anywhere other than an empty parking lot. Nothing more than my humble, experienced opinion... '-)
Again, I will be following this closely...thank you for your response!
@Foxtrot Thank you for your comment, but I'm a bit confused about your point of view. An original 914-6 did not come from the factory with a roll cage, and certainly no door bars as part of a cage system? As such, your comment would lead me to believe that an original and unmodified 914 is unfit to drive on the street safely, yet I think most would argue otherwise - I'm not here to get into the crash ratings of a '70s Porsche 914. What I will say though is that in my belief, the vehicle is certainly SAFER for both street AND track use, because of the roll cage and safety belts installed (door bars removed or not). From a track use perspective, door bars are certainly not generally a requirement for most tracks depending on the group you are running in. For some classes of racing they may be required, but for general track use, there are plenty of vehicles run on tracks across the nation that have NO roll cage or belts installed - I would argue those vehicles are more unsafe than this 914, in my opinion.
Not sure if that helps to clear up or answer a question, but thought it was worth explaining since your comment described a 'terribly dangerous scenario'. Thank you for the interest and conversation!
@Seller I am interested but will again point out - this car should not be driven on the street or track with those doors open - it is a terribly dangerous scenario - in either environment. Will be following...

@rhmoritz . The 914-6 was purchased directly from Patrick Motors on a tittle.
Unfortunately, I haven’t had the time to drive the car as I intended . ( No track nor racing of any kind. That's the reason why reluctantly I'm selling it).
Thanks for your interest in my 914-6.
@Foxtrot When I first saw the car advertised at Patrick Motors, the description was a GT Vintage Road Rally Racer (for HRS, SVRA, VARA, and PCA vintage ).
I had them remove the door bars for easy access as my intentions were more for weekend drives, cars & coffee and light track use such DE. ( although the car never made to the track unfortunately for lack of time ).
As far as safety is concern, having the bars re-installed would certainly make the car safer.
Side bars may be a requirement for some organized racing leagues.
The car was first advertised for sale in Oct 2020 . The fuel cell should be about 2 yrs old.
As per Patrick Motors the CR is approximately 11.5 to 1.
The car is tune to run on 91/93 octane.
Thanks for your comments and interest in my 914-6
@Seller I am a customer of PM; good people; I also had the same PMS cell in my Teener; it disintegrated in about 5-years, which is fairly typical. Legitimate question. It appears this car has been turned more into a hot-rod; are the door bars indeed removed for easier access? It is not safe for track use with open doors now; as presented; please explain. Also, what is the C/R of the motor? What fuel is it tuned to run? Beautiful car!
Was the car purchased direct from PM? During your ownership, was the 914-6 ever driven in any vintage races or rally's? Steller build and great exhaust note! Would love to run some laps at Lime Rock Park in this machine........
@jrexotics Thank you; so when was the build completed by PM?
@Foxtrot I have owned the car for about a year and haven’t change it.
The build otherwise was performed recently so its probably the original .
Thanks for your question and interest.

When was the bladder last replaced (fuel cell)?
@zollerm The vehicle currently weighs approximately 1,990 lbs with fluids
Sir,
What is the vehicle weight? Thank you. Michael
@rhmoritz Great question, but a bit difficult to answer since every state has different regulations and requirements in order to be properly 'street legal'. It is worth noting that since the vehicle is beyond 25 years old, in a majority of states (to my knowledge) the vehicle is considered a ‘classic’ and therefore is not as stringent on those regulations for registration. I would certainly recommend checking with your local state/county for those specific requirements though to ensure that you can properly register the vehicle for street use where you live, if you desire. Having said that, I have the vehicle currently titled/registered with plates, and have not had any issues. As for track use, the vehicle is certainly capable of that aspect as well, as my intended use was for both street and track when I purchased the car. I hope that helps to clear that question a bit, thank you!!
Is the car street legal or track only?
Bid in the amount of $10,914
@racedeck Yes, absolutely correct - the vehicle started life as an original 914-6, and I have the Title to accompany the vehicle as well (NOT being sold on a Bill of Sale, but a Title Transfer with a VIN). From there, the vehicle was converted by Patrick Motorsports to its present configuration as a GT Tribute 914. Thanks for the clarification, and keep the questions coming!
To clarify - this started as a factory 914-6 and converted to a 914-6 GT race configuration?
@911Fan The vehicle is currently stored at a local dealership here in Dallas, TX by the name of RAC Performance, along with several of my other vehicles. The shop specializes in Porsche sales/service, and is where the photos were taken on the lift. It is available for viewing at their facility, if you'd like to set up a time, just let me know. Thank you!!
Nothing not to like - I would love to make it a street/track car.
@ jrexotics where can I see the car?
@jacqnpj Thank you for the kind words, I'm partial to the same sentiments myself haha. It's quite a beautiful car and a treat to drive!
@RockyS Thank you for your question and interest! "Certified to race" is a bit of a general question, as each class of racing will obviously have different requirements/regulations that need to be met. I'm not entirely sure of the specific regulations of each class, so won't be a good source to answer those specific questions - I would highly recommend checking with your specific track or league to ensure the vehicle will meet classification.
Having said that, I do know (and as photographed) that the 6-point Schroth harnesses are currently out of date, and will need replacement for any racing class certification that I could think of. Normal track use (outside of a racing league), I would imagine the vehicle should meet and exceed requirements of any track - once again though, best to check with the proper officials regarding your intended use.
Thank you again, and hopefully that helps to clear up that question!
Hello everyone, and welcome to the auction for my beautiful 1970 Porsche 914-6 GT Tribute Racecar! I'm offering this vehicle out of my private Porsche collection, as I had intended the vehicle to see some light track duty here in Dallas (as well as some road driving), however have not had the time to put in and make that happen unfortunately. As such, I felt such a great tribute and track ready car would be put to better use elsewhere. A bit hard to part ways, as I've owned multiple 914 models, most recently an all original 914-6.
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions on the vehicle, and I would be happy to answer to the best of my ability. Thank you, and happy bidding!
