For the 1970 model year, the 911T remained the introductory version of the 911 and incorporated all the enhancements introduced with the new C-Series production revisions including an extended wheelbase, Fuchs alloy wheels, and a 2.2-liter engine. This Targa version comes finished in black over matching upholstery and pairs a 5-speed manual transmission to its flat-six engine. Customized with houndstooth seat inserts and a ducktail rear spoiler, this classic Porsche is now being offered for auction by its owner of 44 years out of Illinois.
This 911T is said to have been refinished in black during the 1980s. Equipment includes a brushed silver Targa bar, a black removable roof panel, front vent windows, a wraparound rear window, aluminum rocker panel covers, chrome bumperettes with rubber overriders, chrome headlight bezels, a fender-mounted antenna, and a driver’s side mirror. It rides on 14” Fuchs alloy wheels dressed in a set of older tires. A 911S-style front spoiler has been fitted along with a ducktail rear spoiler, and the standard factory decklid is said to accompany the sale. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin presents black upholstery with custom houndstooth cloth seat inserts. Amenities include a leather-wrapped 4-spoke steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, roll-up windows, a Blaupunkt radio, and air conditioning. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
Power is derived from an air-cooled 2.2-liter flat-six engine with dual Zenith carburetors, rated at 125 HP and 131 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller adds that the valves were serviced approximately 5k miles ago and upgraded chain tensioners & new transmission bushings have been fitted. Additionally, the undercarriage is said to have been clean and treated with a protective coating.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a jack, some maintenance records, and the factory decklid.
The seller would like you to know: “This car was originally bought in the 1980s and restored by the owner. Valve job 5,000 miles ago with upgraded chain tensioners. The car has not been driven much in the last 10 years. It runs well and shifts easily.”

@MR1973.911RS it has the 1973 type rear rubber bumperettes I don't think it comes with the original chrome ones. cws
@Love911t The car was originally tan and was repainted black in the 1980's cws
Just a quick question , your ad states “ the rear has chrome bumperettes with rubber overiders “ but all the pictures show the 1973 only solid rubber bumperettes. Does it come with the original chrome ones ?

So many comments it’s confusing.
Did I understand correctly this car was not originally black? Did you repaint in the 80s?

hi opener I just checked with The Tire Rack . They have Vredestein sport classic tires in the original size of 185/70 VR 14 for $208 each cws
hi sportscarguy3 As far as I know the car doesn't need anything currently except a new set of tires cws
Hi opener front bumper is fibreglass. Car has regular 911T suspension I don't know why the car came with 14" wheels, but I think they are original The original service book from Porsche that was delivered with the car shows the vin# and engine# This a # matching car but I don't have any other build info or COA cws
I’ve enjoyed three Targus in my Porsche lifetime a 72 was my earliest followed by a 78 and an 83
I’m a big fan of Targa’s and I think yours is a sweet Porsche
Anything that the car currently needs or might need in the first 5000 miles of moderate driving couple of times of month hundred 150 miles each
If original, the 14” wheels came on 911Ts ordered with the hydro-pneumatic suspension and the comfort group (I think this was very rare). Most of these have been converted to the standard suspension. I see a rear sway bar and assume there is also a front which leads me to believe that the wheels may have been added later. What front suspension does this have?
Do you have a COA or any original build information? Can I assume the front bumper is fiberglass? Was the valve service an adjustment? Based on what I see, can I assume the A/C works?
Clean carfax?

hi srodgrg I sent picture of the original declid to Pcar market They are going to upload it needs black paint cws
Hi Srodgrg The write up is incorrect. The car has a 901 5 speed dog- leg transmission It also has the original deck lid It needs to be painted cws
Just to confirm - the write up states a 4-speed transmission, but does this car have the 901 transmission, a dogleg 5-speed?
Also confirm you have the factory deck lid.
Thanks!
What a nice Targa. I would do a glass out repaint with the original deck lid and full PPF immediately thereafter. I might do some detail work on the instruments as well. But still, a very nice Porsche even as is.
Bid in the amount of $1,970
