Up for auction is this exceptional 1969 Porsche 912 LWB presented in an optional ordered black finish. Winning first place at various concours events over the years including the Leland-West Sponsor Award in 2015 and the Porsche Sponsor Award in 2019 at the Werks reunion in Monterey, CA, this number’s-matching 1969 example is a true collector’s item.  This 912 has also been featured in a six-page article in Excellence Magazine dated from Oct, 2019.  Having undergone over $38k worth of mechanical service, this show-quality example is now being offered for the first time ever as one of the most well-documented examples on the market today.

This 912 is presented in black, a specially ordered color for the 1969 model year.  Stated to have been a lifelong California car, the exterior finish is shown to be excellent condition along with the original brightwork.  Exterior details include original glass aside from a factory-spec German windshield, H4 Hella Euro headlights, Hella driving lights and five original date-stamped chrome wheels which come wrapped in healthy Verstien tires.

Inside, this 912’s cabin remains in excellent original condition.  All gauges, electrical components and accessories are noted to fully functional.  The seller notes that a pair of period-correct luggage straps have been added which were fabricated by Autos International Inc.   Factory options include a rear window defogger, headrests, and a rebuilt AM/FM/SW Blaupunkt radio with special ordered locking antenna with original keys.

This LWB 912 touts a factory lengthened wheelbase that has been extended by approximately 2.2 inches resulting in improved weight distribution and high-speed handing.  Another factory feature included slightly flared rear wheel arches, which enabled the factory to introduce wider wheel and tire set ups.

Power comes from an air-cooled and carbureted flat-four engine that has been fully rebuilt by Classic Auto Racing in Grass Valley, CA.  The rear wheels are driven by way of rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission with a new heavy-duty clutch, T.O. bearing and original factory exhaust.  This engine features enlarged pistons and cylinders, re-jetted original Solex carbs and an 031 Bosch distributor result in an estimated output of 125 HP.  Other performance features include Bilstein shocks, 15mm sway bars and a completely new braking system constructed from genuine Porsche/OEM parts.  A true survivor, this 912 stands in excellent running order, and is waiting to be enjoyed by its new third owner.

The sale of this 912 will include a set of three keys, two of which come with the factory key holders, original books and documentation, extensive service records and invoices, spare parts, car cover, a partial toolkit, certificate of authenticity, and clear title.  Initially offered as Porsche’s entry-level sports car, the 912 has gained newfound popularity amongst collectors and enthusiasts alike.  Do not miss your chance to own this coveted 1969 Porsche 912 special ordered coupe.

Beautiful car. Questions: Do you have original Solex's for the '69? Do you have all the smog plumbing - tho not necessary for registration - such as the 061 Bosch dizzy and the throttle valve compensator? On the transmission - what is the number on the 'spine' of the trans? is it 902 xxxxx etc? That would denote a 6:29 ring and pinion unless replaced with a standard 7:31. The 6:29 made the car a bit more spritely.
Thank you and again - one HECK of a great car. You couldn't find one as nice for sale in 1971!!

@VertexAuto Thank you for your interest and you are correct that it is one of the best 912's on the planet!
Unfortunately I don't have access to a spectrometer but take my word it's all original paint except for the hood. This 912 is very well known on the West coast for being a survivor. I'll try to take pictures of the under carriage later. It has been redone with the correct undercoating materials. This car is 100% rust free and has never been in an accident.
Any other questions, let me know.
    Cheers, Richard

Such a beautiful car! A rare black example and a '69 to boast. Can we get some images of the undercarriage and some paint meter readings?
