Up for auction is this 1969 Porsche 911 Targa project car.  Originally intended to be the basis of a custom RSR tribute, this 911 Targa is offered with a full body kit and all necessary mechanical components including a separate fully rebuilt 2.2 L flat-six engine with 0 miles.  Stated to be in good structural condition with approximately 56k miles showing on the odometer, this Targa is just waiting to be assembled and restored by its next owner.

This 911 remains partially unpainted with a blue base color.  The body is stated to be solid condition with some minor surface rust and corrosion on the floor pans.  A collection of detailed images is provided in the photo gallery.  The car is missing its bumpers, front fenders and hood, although a full American International Racing body kit will be included in-sale along with a set of headlights.  This Targa is equipped with polished Fuchs-style wheels which come wrapped in healthy Firestone tires, and the seller indicates and extra set of KPZ wheels will also be included.

Inside, the black leatherette interior features rear seats and a fully intact dashboard.  The original Targa top is included, and the cabin is ready for a full restoration.

This Targa is accompanied by its original 4-speed manual transmission and a fully rebuilt 1971 sourced 2.2 L flat-six engine.  This engine has also been paired with a Magnetti Marrelli ignition and CDI box.  Complete with a brand-new engine, stock brakes, stock suspension, an oil sump and the original distributor, this 911 is a prime candidate for a restoration or custom build.

The sale of this 911 project car will include a full body kit and headlights, the original distributor, air filter and Targa top, a 4-speed manual transmission and a fully rebuilt flat-six engine.  Do not miss this opportunity to apply your own vision to this ideal 1969 911 project car.

For all that are bidding. I have sold on pcarmarket and similar sites before with great success.

The service the pcarmarket is offering is a great thing for us.

The past couple sales I had no issues with coordination on final transaction, title transfer and shipping.

After the auction I make myself available and give the buyer undivided attention to finalize the process in a professional manner.

I look forward to you giving me positive feedback back as the seller.

    Thank you. Happy bidding.

  • Matthew77 (seller) 4 yearsago

I didn't get the mp message. But you can ask over pcarmarket comments. I think pcarmarket is a great service. If you have a question about shipping or transaction you can mp me.

Folks I understand this is a project that special guy.

When I was younger I did projects like this. I have a situation that is procluding me from such a project.

I removed the body panels to make an honest attempt to the buyer of condition of the metal underneath.

I understand you can buy a car with all the panels on however the worst feeling is finding structural rust and seriously hidden surprises.

I felt like the most honest thing I could have done as a PCA member and on a level for someone that likes to show what people are getting is strip it down for the buyers review.

I'm making an honest go at showing the chassis to you the buyer. I respect the investment and expertise and investment it takes.

    I hope I'm representing properly.

    Thanks again...

Yes I can work with you to ship it. I would like you to take control of the process. I'm about 2 hour from Port Elizabeth we're cars are shipped to Europe.

  • Elfried (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Are you willing to ship to Europe?

  • Matthew77 (seller) 4 yearsago

    The wheels are Maxwells ...

I can't get a boroscope shot because it's not allowing me to capture but I garrante it is a brand new cylinder.

There is a picture of the spark plugs

  • Matthew77 (seller) 4 yearsago

@Kevin_C I have the clutch and flywheel yes.

I can hold it yes, depending on how long you want me to hold it? Also I would like to finalize the transaction. I send you the title in exchange for funds.

If you have a friend or family member that can come see the car right after the auction so you have a piece of mind.

The car is currently at my personal residence in frenchtown NJ. Very safe town.

When would you return and be about to take possession of the car?

I will ask the pcarmarket folks to list a picture of the clutch and flywheel.

  • Kevin_C 4 yearsago

Im in Ireland so im wondering if you could store the car until i get back to the states
    Thanks

  • Pcarb (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@Matthew77 if you would rather discuss specifics over the phone, say the word as it will be easier than messaging.

  • Matthew77 (seller) 4 yearsago

@Pcarb I will look into it for you.

  • Pcarb (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@Matthew77 @Matthew77. Sorry to hear of his passing. Do you know the name his shop? Did they list parts, work, upgrades etc? It is curious that they did not install the oil fed tensioners on a 2.2L.

  • Matthew77 (seller) 4 yearsago

It was performed by a shop in LA / California. However the gentleman passed away suddenly. I can take some pictures with a boroscope to show you the cylinders are sparkling. And it turns over by hand no problem.

  • Pcarb (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

Do you have documentation of the engine work? Who performed the rebuild?

  • Matthew77 (seller) 4 yearsago

Hi, I'm not an expert on restorations. It appears to need work yes. I'm sorry I don't know exactly who made them. Let me look for any specific markings.

However the body is a California car which has been in PA and Jersey only the past couple years.

The bottom of the doors are very clean as is the entire chassis.

  • jimcomer (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

It looks like car has been hit in right front. Area around trunk VIN is also
Crinkled. Any known damage?? Who made the Fuchs lookalikes??

  • Matthew77 (seller) 4 yearsago

If the buyer is local I'm happy to help with the moving of parts I have a pickup truck. If that helps the buyer in anyway possible. Thx Matt
