Up for auction is this 1969 Porsche 911T finished in Tangerine.  Representing the final production year of the original 2.0 L 911, this 911T is factory optioned with a 5-speed manual transmission and “Comfort Equipment” which includes 911S-type trim.  Well over $13,000 has been invested over the last 18 months including some cosmetic refurbishment, a major engine service, and new Koni shocks.  Originally imported to Portland, Oregon where it remains to this day, this thoroughly sorted 911T is now being offered in excellent running order accompanied by a Cardex showing a numbers matching drivetrain.

This 911T is presented in its factory specified color of Tangerine (6809).  The front fenders were refinished under previous ownership within the last 2 years and the current owner recently had the hood and both bumpers professionally repainted at a cost of over $3500.  The front suspension pan and lower battery tray were also previously replaced due to battery acid corrosion.  The car is said to be in excellent structural condition and the only cosmetic imperfections are noted as a few small touch-ups throughout the body, minor windshield pitting, and general patina.

With the optional “Comfort Equipment” this example features 911S-type equipment including bumperettes with rubber overriders, 911S rubber moldings, chromed rocker panels, gold rear lettering, 14” alloy wheels, vented rotors, and aluminum front brake calipers.  The Fuchs wheels are dated from late 1968/early 1969 and are believed to be original to the car.  New factory-spec Yokohama tires have been also been installed within the last 50 miles.

The Black leatherette interior is described to be in very nice condition with only minor signs of wear visible on the carpets and interior upholstery.  The cabin is noted to be highly original with unique “Comfort Package” features including a leather-bound steering wheel, aluminum doorsills, velour carpeting, and 911S-type instrumentation. The functional Blaupunkt radio and rear seat belts (1969 dated) are original and a new Hirschman Antenna was added. The door pockets have also been replaced under the current ownership at a cost of approximately $2000.  There is a crack in the dash speaker grille and the clock is said to be nonfunctional, although the rest of the gauges and accessories in the car are said to be working properly.

An air-cooled 2.0 L flat-six carbureted engine sends approximately 110 HP to the rear wheels by way of an optional 5-speed manual transmission.  The Cardex suggests that this example retains its factory numbers matching engine (#6196605) and transmission (#7196736).  An updated modern ignition system has been installed along with a Carrera chain tensioner upgrade, Koni shocks and struts, and a single Odyssey AGM battery.  Under previous ownership within the last 2 years, approximately $8,000 was spent on a mechanical service which included valve adjustments, a fuel system refresh, new wheel bearings, shocks, and struts.  Since the current owner’s purchase, an engine-out service and reseal has been performed in addition to a rebuild of the transmission with new clutch components.  Most mechanical systems have been recently refreshed and the seller indicates this 911 to be in exceptional driving condition.

This sale will include a complete toolkit with replacement screwdrivers, a spare Fuchs wheel, a jack, the original owner’s manual, a set of 2 keys, a Hirschman antenna key, and a Cardex.  For any enthusiast of early Porsche 911’s, this beautifully configured 911T is not to be overlooked.

Regarding the body and paint the guy that I bought this Porsche from said it looked about like it does now and as I recall he bought it approximately 25 years ago. He never had it repainted. I assume since it is still so nice that it was repainted in the past prior to 25 years or so ago. 1.5 years ago the previous owner had the front fenders repainted by Tom Black's garage in Portland, OR, that cost him $2000. He said the reason was some rust bubbles appeared along the fender joining panel seam (a common area). The fenders were repaired and repainted and are excellent and an excellent color match etc. Because of rock chips to the front and rear fenders and hood and some scratches etc. to the license panel I had them repainted by Tom Black's garage and once again he did an excellent job with the paint and color matching. I had the front and rear bumpers and license panel media blasted down to bare metal before I took them to Tom Black and the hood was taken down to metal on the outside only by Tom Black. That recent work cost me $3500 and I did the work of removing and reinstalling the bumpers etc. So the front and rear bumpers, the license panel, the fog light covers and fenders are newly repainted and the rest of the body appears to be an excellent older repaint. There are some touched up paint chips on the body and doors in places, nothing major and the color match and the job was well done, no big blobs etc.

I had this engine out and replaced the oil return tubes and seals, the oil cooler seals, the bottom sump plate seal and the lower pulley seal. This took care of most of the oil leaks it had. There are still two small leaks, one in the front of the engine and one in the back, they each amount to I would estimate 1-2 drips a day. Super hard to find a 911 that does not drip at least some oil and this one is no exception.

@twickes40 my friend, owns a Porsche repair shop and he is the the one that did the transmission build and I had him do a leak down and it was really good, I had him look the car over but not an official PPI before I bought it. I'll ask him if he remembers the leak down numbers, that was in August so I rather doubt he will remember exact numbers. That being said I do remember it was good and was a factor in my buying the car.

Tangerine is such a great color. Do you have any leak down numbers for the motor? Did you do a PPI before you purchased it? If so, can you share?

I forgot to put this in the details and description but this car has an important upgrade which is the Carrera pressure fed chain tensioners. I'll see if Pcar can add it to the description.

Hello watchers and interested parties, I'm the seller. I'm very proud of this car. I bought it in August to fix up and sell. Was a great car when I bought it and I spent 220 hours fixing small things and detailing every square inch top to bottom. I'm very proud of this fantastic Porsche and I'm happy to answer any questions that you might have. Lastly this 911 is 95% preserved, not restored and only needed light restoration.
