Available for auction is this 1969 AMC AMX finished in Hunter Green over a tan leather interior. Produced between 1968 and 1970, the two-seater AMX was offered with a variety of trim packages and V8 engines. This 1969 example has undergone a full body-off restoration at a reported cost of over $95k and includes 18” Boyd Coddington wheels, leather bucket seats, a custom 2,500-watt sound system, 5-speed Tremec gearbox, and a rebuilt 390ci AMX V8 engine. Now showing just over 3k miles on the odometer since its restoration, this AMX is being offered for auction by its seller out of Montana.
The AMX is characterized by a fastback roofline, long front hood, and a shorter wheelbase compared to its contemporaries. This example was completely refinished in what is said to be its original factory color of Hunter Green (P71A) with black over-the-top vinyl racing stripes. During the restoration, the car is said to have received new chrome trim, glass, side mirrors, lights, and more. A new fuel tank and oil pan were also installed and powder coated in a chrome-like finish. Detailed images can be found in the gallery. It rides on a set of custom 18” Billet style Boyd Coddington ‘Harm’ wheels dressed Kumho tires.
The cabin has been fitted with high-grade leather bucket seats along with matching door panels and a padded dashboard. Other details include 72oz. cut pile carpets in tan, a fully finished and carpeted trunk, an overhead console with XM Delphi satellite radio, a custom felt headliner, and a Grant GT wood-rimmed steering wheel. A custom deck enclosure with a 2,500-watt Alpine sound system is installed in the rear and the cabin has been lined with Dynamat Extreme sound insulation.
Power comes from a 390ci V8 sourced from a 1970 AMX. The engine was completely rebuilt and the block and heads were cryo-treated before being upgraded with a .040 overbore, Howells electronic fuel injection, a Mopar intake manifold, a FlowKool water pump, a Ron Davis aluminum radiator with dual fans, Hedman HTC headers, and more. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed Tremec manual transmission with a Centerforce clutch, Hurst shifter, and a 3.54:1 rear end. Handling has been improved with a Gymkhana suspension setup front and rear.
This sale will include a clean title.

@Flatplane No I did not. I do not find the ride too stiff but, of course, that's an individual thing
@Autotrend @245x40 kumho ASA rubber frt & 275x45 rear
I've owned a number of AMXs, the factory suspension was stiff, I was wondering if you changed the spring rate?

@Dorothy1 love a chance to hear that soundtrack.
@Yags , yes, there is a bypass on the key fob. The sound is fantastic. Pcar market has an audio.
Very nice AMX, having two sets of exhaust outlets is unique. Is there a bypassed valve that turns it in a straight pipe setup?
Hey Javelin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this car is so amazing

The gentleman who owned the car before me worked for Boyd Coddingham during the restoration so he had the wheels specially designed for this car.
Looks like a lot of $ went into this AMX. The wheels don't really help the look of this car. That is an easy fix. These are going up in price..I recently got one and I love it. They are very rare!
