Available for auction is this 1968 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser finished in blue over a brown leather interior. Widely considered among the most capable and robust off-road vehicles of all time, the 40-Series Land Cruiser was first produced in 1960 and was intended to compete with the American Jeep and British Land Rover. This 1968 example is said to have been the subject of a frame-off restoration and mechanical overhaul. Features include a 3.9L inline-six-cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, Rough Country Suspension, Kumho mud terrain tires, power steering, disc brakes, air conditioning, and more.
This FJ40 has been refinished in blue with a white top and front grille as part of the restoration. Details include a steel front bumper with a 12,000 lb. Rough Country winch, a rear swing-out tire carrier with a full-sized spare, and Toyota Land Cruiser fender badges. It rides on a set of white finished 15″ steel wheels fitted with chrome hubcaps and Kumho Road Venture Mud Terrain tires.
The cabin features front bucket seats and inward-facing rear jump seats trimmed in brown leather with matching door panels. A custom leather-trimmed center console houses cup holders, a rear-facing speaker, USB ports, and a storage compartment. Other amenities include a dashboard-mounted touch screen head unit with Bluetooth connectivity and a reverse camera, a new air conditioning and heating system, and roll-up manual windows.
Power comes from a Toyota F 3.9L inline six-cylinder engine, which drives the rear or all four wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transmission and dual-range transfer case. The engine is said to have been overhauled during the restoration, and power steering was added along with disc brakes. The suspension has been upgraded with Rough Country shocks and a steering damper. The seller notes that an oil and filter service was performed recently.
This sale will include a clean title.
