This 1968 Porsche 911L RS Tribute is painted in orange over a black interior and features Carrera RS-style bodywork. With the introduction of the 911T as the new entry-level model in 1968, the normal 911 was renamed 911L for “Lux”. As the 911S was not offered in the U.S. at the time, the 911L became the top-range model available for the U.S. market. This 911L example has been modified  to include fixed-back bucket seats, red Sparco harnesses, longhood-style sheetmetal, a replacement fuel-injected 2.0L flat-six engine, and a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. This 1968 Porsche 911L RS Tribute is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

Originally finished in Tangerine (6809), this 911 was later repainted in orange to emulate the style of the 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2. Further modifications made under current ownership include Carrera RS-style bumpers, fenders, and a fiberglass ducktail decklid as well as longhood-style sheetmetal added to the front of the vehicle and a metal panel was welded to replace the sunroof. Exterior enhancements include later-model taillights, door handles, and side window frames as well as a driver-side “flag” mirror and H4 headlights. This 911L rides on black-finished 16″ Fuchs-style wheels with polished lips which come wrapped in 205/50 and 225/50 Kumho Ecsta AST tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior has been partially stripped and has been enhanced with black cloth-trimmed fixed-back bucket seats paired with red Sparco harnesses. Additional modifications include a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, replacement RS-style door panels with RS America–style door pulls, a Porsche-branded shift knob, and replacement carpets. The rear seats, analog clock, glovebox lid, as well as various heating and ventilation components, have been removed. As a result, exposed wiring is noted below the dashboard. While the odometer shows approximately 101k miles, the seller states that the instrument seals were replaced and that the true mileage is unknown. The seller reports all other gauges and accessories to be working properly.

This 911 is powered by a replacement fuel-injected 2.0L flat-six engine. The rear wheels are driven by way of a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle which was fitted in place of the factory 902/1 unit. Braking is applied via four-wheel disks and the exhaust system features three-into-one headers. Suspension upgrades include Bilstein dampers and later-model aluminum rear semi-trailing arms. Recent service includes an oil change and a gearbox oil change as well as installation of replacement wiring harness, fuel accumulator, and fuse panel.

This sale will include a clean California title and a Kardex.
