Available for auction at no reserve is this 1968 Chang Jiang CJ-750 finished in black with a black vinyl seat. Chang Jiang is a brand of motorcycles from the China Nanchang Manufacturing Company. Production of the CJ-750 began sometime in around 1960, and it is based upon the original 1956 Soviet IMZ M-72, which itself was based on the 1938 BMW R71. This 1968 example was imported from Beijing to California and features a four-stroke opposed flat-twin engine displacing 746cc, a 12V electrical system, a reverse gear, an electric starter, a sidecar, and more. It is now being offered for auction at no reserve by its seller out of California.
The fuel tank, fender, and sidecar are finished in black with white pinstripes and the bike features a black solo saddle. The sidecar seat and backrest have been reupholstered with new vinyl. The seller notes that minor surface corrosion is present on some of the chrome and metal parts, and has supplied a collection of images which can be found in the gallery. Details include a sidecar compartment cover, a spare wheel and tire, and BMW emblems. It rides on black finished 18” wire wheels which come dressed in a set of Duro tires from 2019.
Power comes from an air-cooled, four-stroke, 746cc opposed flat-twin engine which is fitted with both an electric and kick starter. The rear wheel is shaft-driven by way of a 4-speed manual transmission with reverse gear. The seller notes that the bike is running but could use some minor tuning adjustments. It is said to have received an oil and filter service, tune-up, and new tires, and the seller reports that the transmission does not change gears freely and must be forced into its upper gears.
This sale will include a clean title.
