A French automotive icon, the Citroen 2CV or Deux Chevaux was introduced in 1948 at the Paris Mondial de l'Automobile and served as the nation’s most popular economy car with over 3.8 million units produced up until 1990. The 2CV Fourgonnette or “Truckette” version offered a versatile cargo area that proved useful for European tradesmen and delivery workers, and even as the basis for mobile homes. This 1968 example showcases a charming natural patina as well as an upgraded 652cc motor. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
The 2CV features a dual H-frame chassis with an aircraft-style tube framework overlaid by detachable steel body panels. This Truckette includes a rear cargo space with corrugated steel panels, windows, and ambulance-style rear doors. It wears a patinaed grey finish and hand-painted “LAC du VIEUX CHÊNE Pêche a la Truite” lettering, an advertisement for trout fishing at a lake in Quebec. It rides on white-painted 15” steel wheels dressed in new Michelin tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is lined with black rubber floor mats and linen beige vinyl upholstery along with a pair of steel-framed seats with patterned cloth cushions. Equipment includes a fresh air vent, folding windows, a Jaeger speedometer, and a two-spoke steering wheel with a column-mounted shifter.
The seller states this 2CV’s original air-cooled 425cc H2 engine has been replaced with a more powerful 652cc unit. Power is sent to the front wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. The 2CV features a unique swing arm, fore-aft linked suspension system with inboard front brakes. The seller notes the vehicle has been properly serviced by reputable specialists at Fitzback Garage.
This sale will include a clean title.

Has the chassis been replaced? It looks nice in the photos but that's the biggest problems with these cars. And if so is it an original or aftermarket? Galvanized? Thanks!
