This 1967 Volkswagen Beetle is said to have been completely restored and comes finished in Lotus White over a black vinyl interior. This Beetle is said to have been kept by its original owner in Hawaii before he moved to Southern California and sold the car to the current owner in January of 2020. It has since undergone a complete cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment which was completed in December 2021 and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California having been driven less than 300 miles since the restoration.

This Beetle was refinished in its factory-specified color of Lotus White from the Glasurit 22 line as part of the full restoration. It rides on 15” steel wheels dressed in Michelin whitewall tires. Equipment includes an original chrome driver’s side mirror, refinished original chrome bumpers with overriders, black running boards, original VW mudflaps, a rare trunk-mounted spare fuel tank, and pop-out rear windows. The seller states that all original glass remains with the exception of the windshield. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed in factory-correct black vinyl with new carpets and a new headliner. Sound-detaining material has been placed on the floors and near the engine compartment for a comfortable ride. The interior features a rare factory Sapphire VI AM/FM radio. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

Power comes from an air-cooled 1600cc flat-four engine that was machined and rebuilt by Conemac in Canoga Park, California. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission which was rebuilt by Jeff's Transaxle in Northridge, California. The seller states there are currently no outstanding maintenance items.

This sale will include a clean title, toolkit, spare tire, owner’s manuals, two keys, and some documentation.

I assume it would come with the Honolulu license plate bracket and the HI plate?

  • deltaforce (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@Donf @Donfi also wanted to mention that the carburetor is the original solex 30 pic 1 that was rebuild.. the generator is original with the correct date codes which was restored-that matches the cars year and that holds true for the distributor as well. my intention was to use everything original as it came from the factory .. they run the way they should that way.

  • deltaforce (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@Donf Hi again… I see what your talking about now… that the ways it’s shaped so the trunk lid doesn’t hit it when it opens… sorry for the confusion

  • deltaforce (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@Donf The motor is original matching number… because they no longer make 1500 pistons and liners 1600 pistons and liners were used…valves were done too.. the pistons/crank/flywheel etc were balanced.I think it just might be the angle of the way the picture was taken that may look like it’s off

  • Donf (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

    Nice Beetle. A few questions:
-How extensive was the engine rebuild and is it still 1500 cc’s?
    - Is the center section of the front bumper over-rider bent?
    Thanks.

“Is this Love” was released in 1978 so, not quite period correct. In any case, it does have the perfect vibe for a radio demo in this beautiful time capsule.

Seller, can you take a few photos of the battery area under the rear seat and the fuse block? Original wiring harness? During the refurbishment, was there any rust noted on the heater channels?

@rhmoritz Hi … the title is clean and in my name.
The mileage on engine and chassis was approximately
89000 before rebuild.. there is now 289 miles since restoration.

  • rhmoritz (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Approximate mileage on engine/chassis? Clean title in owner’s name?

I can go through exactly the process with you if you would like… I can also show you some other examples of my work…as far as the rebuild on motor an tranny… I’m sure I can dig up those invoices..
I’m not the best bookkeeper as far as keeping all the other receipts organized but I’m sure I can find them

Beautiful Bug! Nicely restored example. Can the owner provide copies of invoices for all paint/bodywork/mechanical work performed during the restoration?

  • dshcay (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@dshcay should reach “back in 1971”, darn auto correct

  • dshcay (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

I love this car, my first purchase out of high school was a 67 bug from Ogner VW in Woodland Hills. What a great restoration, slap on a pair of aloha surf racks and install a Pioneer 8 track with 6x9 speaks and I’m bs knob 1971. Can’t wait to see where this auction goes, GLWA

1967 is my favorite year beetle. It is the last year of the old style metal dashboard, wrap around bumpers with the smaller taillights, is the only year with the individual reverse lights fastened to the override of the bumper, and was upgraded from a 6 volt to a 12 volt battery.

Hello everyone and thanks for viewing my 67 beetle..
I just want to add a few things that were missed during the submission process.
This beetle is truly one of a kind with numbers matching motor and transaxle… It spent two year on the big island when its owners moved to Southern California in 1969 where it was garaged and cared for until my neighbor decided to sell to me in January of 2020. I look forward to answering any questions you may have and I’m available anytime you may want to inspect up close in person… thank you all and good luck!
