Introduced in 1965, the Porsche 912 was an entry-level variation of the 911. Of the total 912 production, only 8% accounted for Targas, with even fewer of those being soft-window variants. The Porsche 912 soft-window Targa allows for fully open, top-down, rear window-down, or fully closed operation. This 1967 example is finished in Black over a matching interior and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida after a recent service by KMW Motorsports.

Finished in Black, this rare 912 features a black Targa top, a brushed stainless-steel Targa bar, a removable soft rear window, and optional factory bumper guards. It rides on 15” chrome Fuchs wheels wrapped in Falken ZIEX tires showing date codes from 2023. Equipment includes fog lights, chrome trim, and a single exhaust outlet. The seller notes that a new soft top has been fitted. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, the cabin features 2+2 seating with black upholstery, matching carpeting, and a brushed metal trimmed dashboard. Equipment includes lap belts, chrome seat hinges, folding rear seats, a 4-spoke steering wheel framing the VDO gauge cluster, and a Blaupunkt radio. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are said to be functioning properly with no warning lights present.

Equipped with a 1600cc type 616/40 flat-four carbureted engine, as much as 90 HP and 90 lb.-ft. of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transaxle. The seller states that 4 Weber carburetors have been fitted and the car was recently serviced by KMW Motorsports out of Pompano Beach, Florida. The seller also confirms there are no current mechanical issues.

This sale will include a tool for the Targa top and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “I’ve driven the car off and on for the past several months with no issues.”

@blackfish19 this is not why our platform exists and we would appreciate you not contacting sellers if you don't intend to bid

  • Dreammachines1 (seller) 1 monthago

I believe auction handles that---give them a call they have my contact info

  • blackfish19 1 monthago

I dont seem to be able to use the ''contact seller'' for some reason. I'd like to come see the car later this week, if it doesn't sell that is. Thanks

  • Dreammachines1 (seller) 1 monthago

No although ive never driven it in the rain---but it has been outside when it started to rain--- no issues

  • blackfish19 1 monthago

Any leaks on a rainy day?

  • K.Wise (registered bidder) 1 monthago

@Dreammachines1 Absolutely agree on the uniqueness and rarity of these cars. You have a really nice offering that just needs a few things. Just about all of them require something. The cost to restore SWT, at least the 911S's, start at around $150-200,000 and can hit $250,000. The 912's are the same car with different mechanicals but are not much less to totally restore. These are marvelous cars to drive with an amazing look to them, good luck on the sale!

These are the videos this auction provides--for the money these cars bring most buyers hire an inspection company who provide driving videos and a detailed report for the buyer . one bidder has already scheduled an inspection company for Wednesday morning

Any videos of the car driving changing gears? Thanks

@K.Wise I've had the car for 2 years --- I saw your car -- mine is drawing alot of attention but hasnt reached its potential selling price yet-- an inspection has been set up by one of the bidders for Wednesday morning -- there will be no issues so we will hope for the best-- congrads on your sucsess with your 912s as you know they were extremely low production for 1967--thanks for your interest in mine

  • K.Wise (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Is this your car or a consignment? There are lots of things to like and a few things that are a bit questionable. I have 3 soft windows, 2 67 911s and a 67 912 like this car. I've had several more, including at one time the Bahama yellow 67 911s SWT that set the price record a few years ago at the Gooding auction at Pebble. I'll check my 912 tomorrow for some comparisons. I notice the front hood gaps are off, has it been like that since you've had it? Any idea when and who did the restoration work? Thanks

  • Chipper (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Those trim pieces are expensive and hard to find. It's a shame they did not bother to source them as they are the most unique pieces of a soft window.

  • Dreammachines1 (seller) 1 monthago

I didn't do the restoration---got the car exactly the way you see it--there are so very few Soft window Targas in existence I had nothing to compare it to--but my guess would be when they installed the new soft rear window they removed it---

  • K.Wise (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Do you have the missing trim pieces where the targa bar meets the painted body? Any idea why they are not there?
