Up for auction at no reserve this 1967 Porsche 911 Targa restoration project.  One of just over 700 Targa’s produced for the model year, this European-market 911 is believed to have been imported to back California after use in Germany by a military service member.  It was originally finished in Polo Red and came with an optional Recaro Sport Seat and stabilizer bars front and rear.  The car was placed in storage in 1976 and eventually acquired by the current owner ten years later, who relocated with the car to Texas in 1999.  Including a transmission and original numbers-matching engine this 1967 911 Targa project car is now being offered by its longtime owner out of Texas accompanied by the original Kardex.

This Targa had reportedly seen about 9 years of active use under the original ownership, during which time it was repainted from its original Polo Red color to green, yellow, purple, and finally silver.  The seller notes the silver paint appeared well-weather at the time of their purchase in 1986 and has since been sanded away.  Both front fenders have been replaced as well as the front bumper, hood, hood latch, and a portion of the inner passenger-side front wheel well.  All weatherstripping has been removed along with the front windshield and rear dome glass.  The seller notes the torsion bars have been greased and are rust-free, while traces of rust remain visible on the floor pans and throughout the bodywork as depicted in the gallery.  The front and rear bumpers, fenders, rear glass, Targa top, and horn grilles will accompany the sale along with a set of 15” Fuchs wheels.

The cabin has been almost entirely stripped apart from a dashboard with brushed silver trim, a steering column, and a full suite of metric VDO instrumentation.  The original Kardex shows an optional Recaro Sport Seat, which will accompany the sale along with a standard black leatherette passenger seat.  The car also comes with a dashboard, door panels, rear side panels, rear seats, a rear shelf, pedal assembly, shifter, brake lever, and aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel.

The air-cooled 2.0L flat-six engine is stamped with serial number *911896*, corresponding with the original Kardex. The engine is equipped with Weber carburetors, heat exchangers, an oil cooler, clutch, and flywheel. An optional front stabilizer bar was equipped from the factory and comes with the car along with the 5-speed manual transmission, front suspension, steering rack, brakes, wheel hubs, and muffler. Both the fuel and oil tank are included as well.

This sale will include the original Kardex and a clean Texas title. A great starting point for any early 911 restoration, this 1967 Targa is ready to begin its journey with a new owner.
