The fifth-generation Dodge Coronet was a muscle car produced from 1965 to 1970, beloved by drag racers and often modified as some of the earliest types of “funny car”. This 1967 Coronet 440 Coupe is said to have been used for drag racing during the early 2000s before the seller’s acquisition about 17 years ago. It derives power from a custom-built Chrysler 392 Hemi V8 paired with a newly installed Turbo Action transmission and FTI torque converter. Road-registered and recently serviced, this Dodge Coronet is now being offered for auction by its longtime owner out of Florida.

This Coronet is said to have been refinished in the current silver metallic color about 20 years ago and features custom side-exit exhaust pipes, a cowl-mounted tachometer, a fiberglass clamshell hood with a ram air scoop, and a set of WELD Racing wheels dressed in Mickey Thompson and BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. The seller describes the condition of the exterior as “driver quality”, noting some patina and pitting on the original chrome trim pieces.

The cabin is trimmed in black leatherette with matching carpets and includes a padded roll cage, a three-spoke racing steering wheel, a new Cheetah SCS shifter, a shift light, and additional gauges mounted to the steering column and lower dashboard. The seller notes there is no speedometer and all power accessories have been eliminated including air conditioning.

Power comes from a 1957 Chrysler 392 Hemi V8 bored .030 over and upgraded with forged 11.5:1 CR pistons, main stud girdle, Flowmaster exhaust, and external oil lines and oil filter. The rear wheels are connected to Stange axles with a 4.30 spool, driven by a new Turbo Action transmission and FTI torque converter installed within the last 200 miles. The seller states service completed between 2022 and 2023 includes a Demon carburetor rebuild, fuel pump rebuild, aluminum radiator cleaning, fresh coolant, new rear disc brakes, a brake fluid flush, oil change, and new spark plugs.

This sale will include some documentation, a clean title, and a set of new chrome Hemi valve covers with gaskets.

The seller would like you to know: “Thanks for having a look at my auction. I have owned this Old School hot rod for 17 years, stored indoors always. It is powered by a high-performance 57' Chrysler Hemi probably in the 450 HP range. Starts and runs very well, sounds great with Flowmasters, no smoke. One piece fiberglass front end for easy access, looks very cool when opened. Fun car...Launches straight and brakes straight. Thanks for looking and bidding.”
