Available for auction is this 1967 Chevrolet Corvette C2 Roadster finished in Rally Red over a standard black interior. Offered for the 1963 through 1967 model years, the second generation of the Corvette was a more focused sports car than its predecessor with a new chassis, improved steering, brakes, and suspension. This 1967 example has remained under the care of its current owner for over 20 years and was treated to a comprehensive nut and bolt, frame-off restoration in 2006. According to the seller, no expense was spared during the restoration and originality remained paramount during the entire process. It came factory equipped with an HE Code 327ci V8 paired with an M21 4-speed manual transmission, a Posi-Traction rear differential, an AM/FM radio, and more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of North Carolina.
Designed by Larry Shinoda under the direction of Bill Mitchel, the C2 Corvette was the first American car since the 1942 DeSoto to come equipped with hidden headlamps, a feature that would remain with the Corvette until 2005. The 1967 C2 Corvettes can be identified by subtle styling cues such as smaller fender vents, flat-finish rocker panels, and a single reverse light mounted above the license plate. This example comes finished in Rally Red (974) with a standard black convertible soft top. During its restoration in 2006, the car was refinished in its current shade of Rally Red using modern gel, base, and clear coats, and was originally finished in Greenwood Green (982). Archival images from the Corvette Production Plant in St. Louis were used to replicate all of the production-line wax pen marking, ink blots, and GM stamping found on the C2 Corvette. Additional images are provided in the gallery including photos documenting the restoration process. It rides on 15” Rally wheels which come dressed in Coker Redline Radial tires from 2010.
Trimmed in standard black vinyl, the cabin features bucket seats with matching door panels and black carpets. During the restoration, the cabin was refurbished including all of the gauges, and the seller notes that the cabin shows minimal wear. Details include a vertically mounted AC Delco AM/FM radio, a three-spoke wood grain steering wheel, factory-tinted glass, an analog clock, roll-up windows, and lap belts. Images of the original order sheet can be found in the gallery and the seller confirms that all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain functional, with the exemption of the analog clock.
Power comes from an HE code L48 327ci V8 which produced up to 300 HP when new. The rear wheels are driven by way of a Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission and optional 3.55 Posi-Traction limited-slip differential. The engine and transmission were rebuilt during the restoration and are said to be original to the car with matching numbers. A factory off-road exhaust system(N11) was added during the restoration, and factory-equipped features include Transistor Ignition (K66) and GM Air Injector Reactor (K19). Recent service includes the installation of period-correct GM brake calipers, pads, and fresh fluid. The seller notes that the car runs very well and that a carburetor tune should be performed in the near future.

@Bob.Beck8428 Bob, No Power Steering/No Power Brakes. Keep in mind that the 327 examples have significantly less weight over the front wheels (than the Big Block 427 examples). The Steering Wheel diameter helps make tight/low speed turns manageable. This is the way this Sting ray was ordered back in November of 1966. Many 327 Corvette buyers preferred to avoid the parasitic HP loss associated with Power Steering.
