This 1966 Porsche 911 was acquired by the seller approximately 13 years ago from a long-term owner out of Utah. According to the seller, the car is a very early production 1966 model that was built in 1965. This historic 911 is an ideal candidate for a complete restoration and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Wyoming.
The earliest Porsche 911s are short-wheelbase models featuring chrome bumpers and trim. This Coupe was reportedly originally finished in Polo Red and was refinished in yellow at some point during its life. Significant patina is noted throughout the bodywork and the seller states the example appears to have no signs of serious accidents. It rides on a set of 15” steel wheels mounted with older mismatched tires. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, this 911 is upholstered in black leatherette which is in need of refurbishment along with the headliner, carpets, and all interior panels. The seller notes that some gauges, knobs, and switchgear are missing. The car reportedly came factory-optioned with a Webasto heater.
The seller notes that the engine is currently disassembled and a 5-speed manual gearbox remains. The non-numbers matching dissasembled engine will be included with the sale
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: "Great starting point for a full restoration or hot rod build. Very early 66 model year produced in 1965."

We’re about 4 hours from the end of the auction. Just to be clear the auction is for the rolling car only. To avoid confusion we are not including any engines or transmission.
We will be auctioning some vintage Porsche 911 engines with Pcarmarket in the near future.
Thanks for all the bids and comments so far.
Added pictures of the early style pan.
The front suspension has obviously been replaced by an early reproduction part but the rest of the underside is original and solid for its age.

This car still sports its original fenders and quarters. They had wide fender lips in the range of .75-1.0 inches for 1964 through 1967.
The earliest cars had 4 screw horn grilles and then transitioned to 2 screw like this car.

Reserve is low already.

If your selling this 911 without engine & transmission are you lowering the reserve?
Bid in the amount of $3,911
Bid in the amount of $3,356
I agree!
At this point, I think it would be easier to revise the listing and make the car simply a roller with no engine or transmission.
This should reduce all confusion for the peanut gallery spectators.
The buyer can then negotiate a deal on an engine and tranny to suit their actual needs if they desire.
I will contact Pcarmarket editors as soon as they are open again.
Thanks
Once again, the engine is disassembled and incomplete .
it will fit inside the car
How are you going to include the engine? At this point how would we even know if the engine can be rebuilt? Is there a serial number on the case?

@cmovic LOL
That’s too bad!you have such thin skin! You have to actually bid to buy as well.
Now you really hurt my feelings. I made a special effort to take more pics of the engine compartment.
@PcarLiquidators this project car and your ‘71 was my cup of tea until you started insulting me. Normally I’d say good luck but good riddance seems more appropriate under the circumstances.
Once again. The focus is the body. Anyone building this car is going to restore all mechanicals thoroughly.
@911fun
Look at the pictures. There is a disassembled engine pictured.
So if your not including the engine that was pictured installed in it, what engine is being included, and can the original engine be purchased?
Our main focus here is to LIQUIDATE these project cars and leave the vision and work up to someone else.
The pictures were taken before the engine was pulled. We originally wanted to get the engine running but the auction started sooner than expected. The engine also had too many issues and we decided to not include it in the sale.
The value of this car is the solid underside and complete body sheet metal.
I agree with @cmovic there is clearly an assembled engine that is visible in several of the photos. Curious why the selection of photos in listing avoids showing the engine bay with an obvious exhaust system still attached to the block….
@cmovic
Do you see the engine parts spread out? That’s all that comes with the car plus the transmission.
There are pictures of the empty engine bay as well. That’s what you get.
This is a project not a running or driving car.
It is only a starting point for someone to build their vision.
Most likely not your cup of tea.
Bid in the amount of $2,911
@PcarLiquidators I read the listing carefully. Generally auction photos are of what you’re bidding on (save the occasional dog, etc). I’m seeing 100 pictures of a car with an engine and a handful without. Makes me wonder what’s actually being delivered if/when this sells. Do you have pictures of the car as it will be delivered to the buyer?
@cmovic if you read the listing it states that the only engine included is a disassembled and incomplete one pictured. I will get pics of the transmission today. It is still assembled.
What’s the exhaust shown in the pictures attached to if the engine is out and disassembled? Picture 150 appears to show an engine installed. If that’s the case, what’s being sold here? Also are there pictures of the transmission and it it intact?
Also found pictures of the tub on the lift

Hey missed out on the last auction. Hope I have better luck this time.
Bid in the amount of $1,911
I would clear coat this, as is! and put a killer drivetrain/suspension set up. Would be so cool. Good luck!
Welcome to my auction for a dry southwest USA car. Body is very solid and free of any major rust. This project car will need some work but is a great foundation to go on many different paths. It is not a matching numbers car so the rat rod or restomod type build might work. There is an engine included but disassembled and incomplete. The transmission is still complete but not matching either.
Auction started sooner than expected so pics of engine will follow.
