We are pleased to present this 1966 911 Coupe finished in factory Polo Red for auction. This early 1966 example was originally delivered to Bud Clark VW in Dearborn, Michigan before being purchased by its third and current owner in 1973. Boasting a collector-grade presence, a clean bill of health, and extensive service records this is an excellent opportunity to own one of the world's most iconic sports cars. It is now being offered for auction with 87k miles showing on the odometer by its owner of nearly 50 years in Michigan.
Brought down to bare metal and fully resprayed in the 1980’s, this 911 is finished in its original color of Polo Red. The exterior of this vehicle is stated to be exceptionally clean, showing virtually no blemishes or imperfections. This 911 is also said to be rust-free and retain all original body panels with the exception of the bumpers. This 911 rides on its original 15” disc-brake chrome-plated wheels which come wrapped in BF Goodrich tires.
The black interior in this 911 shows to be in excellent condition. An upgraded radio has been installed and remains the only modification to this otherwise stock and highly original example. The seats are free of tears or excessive wear and the dashboard is free of cracks typically present in early model cars. All accessories and electrical systems are said to be in proper working order including the factory-optioned Webasto Heater. This is truly a well-preserved 911.
This 911 retains its original normally aspirated 2.0L flat-six engine that is capable of producing 130HP and 129 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a desirable 5-speed manual transmission. Extensive service records will show that this vehicle has been properly maintained throughout its life. Recent maintenance items addressed in this 911 include a full fluid service, adjusted carburetors, adjusted valves, new spark plugs, and new wiring. The engine is said to be in excellent running condition.
The sale will include extensive service records, all factory books, two keys, original tool kit, and spare tire. Not too often does an opportunity present itself to acquire an early 911 in such well-preserved condition.
