This 1966 Land Rover 109 Series IIA is a long-wheelbase utility model originally delivered to the Austrian fire brigade and outfitted by Rosenbauer with emergency service equipment. Following its importation to Germany in 2019, it underwent a partial restoration focused on preserving originality and was subsequently approved by Jaguar Rover Classic Deutschland GmbH after a full repaint and mechanical inspection. Finished in Pastel Green over grey Landrover Elephant Hide vinyl upholstery, it is powered by a 2.25-liter inline-four paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and dual-range transfer case. It comes equipped with four-wheel drum brakes, a roof rack with rear ladder, a Capstan winch, and more. This well-preserved Series IIA is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia.

Originally finished in red during its service with the Austrian fire brigade, the aluminum alloy body was repainted in Pastel Green with a white roof during the partial restoration. Exterior details include a galvanized front bumper, a front-mounted searchlight on the right wing, front wing-mounted mirrors, sliding side windows, a roof rack, a rear access ladder, and wooden rails. A functional Capstan winch replaces the fire pump originally installed during its use as a fire-service vehicle. It rides on black-finished wheels wrapped in a new set of off-road tires, with a matching spare tire mounted above the cab. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features grey Landrover Elephant Hide upholstery along the front bench and rear side-facing jump seats, with metal interior surfaces color-matched to the exterior. The dashboard is equipped with Smiths instrumentation, pull switches, and a central speedometer. The manual gear lever is accompanied by auxiliary controls for the transfer case and four-wheel-drive system, while the rear compartment is lined with textured tan carpeting. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order.

The 2.25-liter inline-four engine drives all four wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission and dual-range transfer case. The steel ladder-frame chassis features leaf-sprung solid axles front and rear, with drum brakes at all four corners. The drivetrain and mechanical components were reviewed in 2024 by Land Rover Germany as part of the vehicle’s partial restoration and certification by Jaguar Rover Classic Deutschland GmbH.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Purchased from Jaguar Land Rover Classic Deutschland GmbH Ringstrasse 38 Essen Germany 2024.”

Could seller verify if truck was born red, or it was green and fire dept painted red and now it’s back to correct green?

Apologies for the typo: front locking hubs

  • CWalkins68 (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

Great Land Rover with relatively low mileage, the petrol engine and elephant hide interior. No British Heritage certificate to confirm factory specs? I assume the original color was pastel green before being converted in Austria to a fire truck. This should have the banjo steering wheel rather than the later plastic version, and the wheels should be limestone/beige rather than black. I would add overdrive and front locking bubs, put the spare tire on the hood/bonnet and galvanize the hand-holds on the chassis rear cross-member.
