Widely regarded as one of the most iconic automobiles ever produced, the Jaguar E-Type was famously described by Enzo Ferrari as “the most beautiful car ever made.” Finished in British Racing Green over tan leather, this 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I Coupe underwent extensive customizations in 1997 at a reported cost of over $30k. The result of a reported 500+ hours of labor, the build features a Goodwrench GM 350ci V8 paired with a Corvette 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive, a custom exhaust system, reworked suspension with V12 XKE components, a widebody conversion, a modified bonnet, Lotus bucket seats, and custom interior appointments. Acquired by the seller approximately 14 years ago, this uniquely built and well-maintained XKE is now being offered for auction out of New York.

The XKE Series I is sought after for its glass-covered headlights, small front grille, and split chrome rear bumper. Recently stripped to bare metal and refinished in British Racing Green, this fixed-head coupe has received a custom Big Block-style hood, metal widebody fenders, custom dual exhaust outlets, and aftermarket staggered-width chrome wire wheels. The car rides on BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires with approximately 90% tread depth, measuring 225/60/15 at the front and 275/60/15 at the rear. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, the driver is greeted with tan leather upholstery complemented by green carpeting and a contrasting black dashboard. Equipment includes Lotus-sourced bucket seats, a wood-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel, a custom armrest, a dual cup holder, and a reconstructed transmission tunnel. Other amenities include analog Smiths instrument dials, toggle switches, rubber floor mats, and pop-out rear vent windows. The seller notes that the passenger door only locks from inside the cabin, and a heater is not equipped.

Power is provided by a Goodwrench GM 350ci V8 paired with a Corvette 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Mechanical upgrades include an oversized aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan, a custom exhaust manifold and exhaust system, and a reworked rear end sourced from a V12 XKE. Additional updates consist of a refreshed suspension with replaced front, rear, and parking brake pads, an upgraded brake master cylinder, and rewired gauges. The seller adds that all fluids have been recently changed.

This sale will include a registration, spare tire, jack, and lug wrench.

The seller would like you to know: “This was an exceptionally well-done build. I have over 30k in receipts, which don't include the donor car and the over 500 man-hours. I have owned this car for approximately 14 years, and it has been a real pleasure to drive.”

    @DrT The Flares are steel.
The motor is a GM crate ZZ4 part # 24502609.
I was not aware of the brake light but I have had proplems with the replacement brake pressure sensors
in the past. They are made over seas and they just don't last. I have a back up so I will address the issue
    this weekend.
All the other electical works fine.

  • DrT (registered bidder) 4 weeks, 1 dayago

@Bruce1954 #1) are the flares fiberglass or steel? 2) do you know which GM crate engine was used? 3) in your driving video, the brake lights apparently do not work; regardless of your prior answer, are there any other electrical issues (turn signals, head/tail lights, etc)? Nice looking car. Thanks.

@Bruce1954 And is the fitment more because of being too tall with the seat seats being too narrow?

  • 993David (registered bidder) 1 monthago

@Bruce1954 I assume if 6’2” 220 is a no go that 6’4” 210 is no better? I have a series III ots one fit ok

@Bruce1954 If I’m not mistaken, you are correct re adding/removing plates on SuperTraps.

  • Bruce1954 (seller) 1 monthago

    @keyes3 Approximately 20K on engine.
    Approximate HP is around 375
The exhaust Supertraps came with the car. What I know about them is you can change the sound by
taking away or adding the baffle discs.

    2 questions..MAYBE more
    Approximate HP?
    Miles on engine?
Supertrap used to be for motorcycles but I'm lost. More details on exhaust pls

@Mochima There are no issuses with the car except you have to lock the passenger door from inside. The powertrain, suspenion, streeing, transmission and chassis are all fine. The car handles and drives great. This is a solid car with no rust.

  • Bruce1954 (seller) 1 monthago

@steve72 The piant is under two years old.
The door is fully closed on he passenger side.
There are spacers in the rear. I decided to use a higher profile tire.
The ride is smooth and comfortable and handles great.
Your golf bags will fit fine but honestly at 6' 2" 220 you'll have a proplem.

  • steve72 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

BTW .... Unusual, but I like the flares. You won't see many of these around town.

  • steve72 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

How recent is the paint job?
In photo #21, is the pass. door fully closed?
Is the spacer in the rear springs to keep the wheels from rubbing?
I also am interested in the ride and handling
At 6'2" ; 220# can I (and my golf clubs) fit?
    Thanks.

  • Mochima (registered bidder) 1 monthago

  • Bruce1954 (seller) 1 monthago

@FORMULAONE You can get an aftermarket set up which is smaller and it could work where the old unit was. All the duckwork is still intact. I thought about it when I first bought the car but after a while I really didn't need it.
