The Ford Mustang is the longest-produced model of the brand, first introduced at the 1964 World’s Fair. This 1966 example is equipped with a replacement 351ci Windsor V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission and was restored about five years ago in metallic green over a two-tone Ivy Gold and White luxury vinyl interior. Said to have been acquired by the seller in 2021 from a previous owner of 23 years, this Mustang has recently received a new battery, carpeting, an oil service, a new starter, a new ignition, and new tires under current ownership. This 1966 Ford Mustang is now being offered at auction by the seller based out of Connecticut.
The exterior has been refinsihed in the current shade of metallic green over the original Dark Moss Green (Y) paint. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, a chrome driver’s side mirror, vent windows, white Mustang rocker panel striping, grill-mounted fog lights, a Mustang-branded fuel filler, and integrated trumpet-style exhaust outlets. The seller notes some minor scratches and imperfections in the paint, detailed images are provided in the gallery. The 14” steel wheels are mounted with reproduction Goodyear Power Cushion double-redline tires that were said to have been recently mounted.
The cabin features two-tone Ivy Gold and White vinyl upholstery on the front bucket seats and rear bench, with matching door panels and olive-green carpeting installed by the current owner. Amenities include a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, a “cue ball” shifter, wood grain trim, Ford-branded door sill liners, a locking glovebox, courtesy lighting, roll-up windows, and an AM/FM Mustang radio connected to upgraded Pioneer speakers. The seller reports that the fuel gauge will intermittently flutter.
This Mustang is equipped with a replacement 351ci Windsor V8 which is said to have been installed under previous ownership, equipped with chrome valve covers, a chrome air filter lid, and a Luxerad aluminum radiator. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission and a 3:00:1 differential. In anticipation of the sale, the seller reports that the battery, starter, ignition, and tires have been replaced.
