Produced from 1959 to 1967, the Austin-Healey 3000 earned recognition for its success in motorsport competition. The BJ8 sports convertible is powered by a high-lift camshaft and dual SU HD8 carburetors, producing 150 HP. This 1966 example is finished in Healey Blue over blue leather and has recently received maintenance including rebuilt carburetors, new brake pads, a replacement brake master cylinder, fluid changes, and additional service items. It is now being offered for auction out of North Carolina.

The Austin-Healey 3000’s bodywork was built by Jensen Motors, and the final assembly was completed at British Motor Corporation's MG Works in Abingdon, England. This example is finished in Healey Blue (BU2) with white-finished coves and a blue convertible soft top. Details include a hood scoop, front auxiliary lights, fender-mounted rearview mirrors, front vent windows, bright trim, chrome bumpers with overriders, a twin exhaust outlet, and 15” wire wheels with dual-eared knock-off spinners and Michelin tires. A collection of images is provided in the gallery.

Inside, the driver is greeted with blue leather upholstery accented by wood trim. Equipment includes a Moto-Lita steering wheel, black-faced Smiths instrumentation, front bucket seats, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, a locking glovebox, and chrome trim.

Power comes from a 2.9-liter inline-six with dual SU HD8 carburetors, factory-rated at 150 HP and 173 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transmission with electrically actuated overdrive. Recent service is said to have included fluid changes, a new fuel pump, replacement brake hoses, front calipers and pads, rear shoes and wheel cylinders, a new master cylinder, and rebuilt carburetors.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This example has been very well-maintained.”
