The last evolution of Porsche’s original sports car, the 356C showcased improvements over its predecessors including four-wheel disc brakes, revised suspension tuning, and a more refined interior. This final-year 356C Coupe comes finished in Ruby Red and derives power from a replacement 1600cc engine. It was acquired by the current owner in 2015 and has been maintained exclusively by an authorized Porsche dealer in California ever since.

This Coupe came factory-painted in Ruby Red (6402) and was refinished in its original color at some point under previous ownership. Equipment includes a chrome rear luggage rack and driver’s side mirror, chrome bumper overriders with integrated exhaust outlets, a twin-grille decklid, and 15” slotted chrome wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps. The car rides on a set of Michelin tires (DOT FHTK A6F  X 2203) and includes a full-size spare wheel in the trunk. Some minor cosmetic imperfections are depicted, and the seller notes the door and window seals remain in excellent condition, detailed damages are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is fitted with black leatherette seats and door panels, a painted dashboard, and a perforated white headliner. Accessories include a three-spoke steering wheel with Porsche crested horn button, a rubber floor liner, pop-out rear quarter windows, front vent windows, a locking glovebox, and a vintage Blaupunkt radio. The interior is said to have been previously reconditioned and the seller reports all gauges to be working properly apart from the clock.

Power is derived from a replacement air-cooled 1600cc type 616/15 engine sourced from an earlier 1964 356C. A 4-speed manual gearbox drives the rear wheels and stopping power comes from disc brakes at each corner. The car has been maintained exclusively at Auto Gallery of Woodland Hills under the current ownership since 2015 and some corresponding records are said to be available. There are no outstanding maintenance items reported at this time.

This sale will include a clean title.

@Clutch the car has never been in an accident.

  • rdipede (seller) 2 yearsago

@Clutch Good morning, we will bring the car to a shop to put it up on a lift but cannot do that until Friday or Saturday. The weather is calling for rain and the car has never been driven in the rain by the current owner. We can perform a leakdown test and do a service prior to the new owner taking possession. There are absolutely no issues with the way the car runs and drives. But I understand the need for the service records. We are trying to locate as many of them as we can find.

This looks like a nice driver. Looks like the zenths carbs where changed to weber and an early oil breather, different than the 64/65. In !965 was the first year to have an electric tach, this one is cable driven.

  • Clutch (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

@rdipede Forgot to ask if there is any possibility of getting the car up on a lift for some more detailed pictures. Also, pictures of inside the front clip that would allow us to see if there was any accident damage in the past. Thank you.

@rdipede , are there any service records available? Any photos of the car before/during the repaint? It looks like there are some newer dust boots on the transaxle, can you tell us what other parts have been replaced lately? Is there a Kardex? Is the transmission original? Thank you

@Clutch I will find out and get back to you. What other questions do you have?

  • Clutch (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Hello Seller, Thank you for the added photos. Do you know anything about the interior of the engine? Miles, compression check and maybe a leakdown check? Thank you.

@Clutch Yes... i will upload images shortly.

@artichoke @artichoke. The paint blemishes are just that - no rust. They've been like that since I've owned the car - if that was rust, it would have advanced after seven+ years. The car has been completely reliable. No issues!

  • artichoke (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Are the wrinkled paint images indicating rust beneath or just paint issues. Any other rust areas? Any accidents in its history? Carfax? Any reliability issues?

Hello Seller, lovely car. Could we see pictures of the floor pans and longitudinals while up on a lift please? Also some pictures of the inside of the front clip with the spare tire removed? And finally any maintenance records would be helpful. Thank you.
