A classic British sports car, the MGB replaced the renowned MGA in 1963 and had a successful production run until 1980. As a 1965 example, this MGB boasts the inaugural-year five-bearing crankshaft design and is among the last to have been equipped with the original pull-type door handle. Refinished in white over black upholstery, this lifelong California car is now being offered for auction.
This example has been refinished white and features chrome bumpers and body moldings as well as a chrome windscreen frame and a polished fender-mounted mirror on the driver’s side. The car is equipped with a black convertible top and a matching tonneau cover as well as MG Club grille badges and factory 14” chrome wire spoke wheels dressed in older tires. The seller believes the original paint color to have been black, and notes the current paint remains in driver-condition. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin presents black leather seats with deviated white piping and matching door panels, along with a color-coordinated dashboard and black loop carpeting. Equipment includes analog Smith’s instrumentation, chrome accents, a locking glovebox, an aftermarket three-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel, and an upgraded stereo.
Up to 95 HP and 110 lb.-ft of torque comes from a BMC B-Series inline-four engine with a 1,798cc displacement and twin SU carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transaxle. The seller states this vehicle has been regularly serviced there are currently no outstanding maintenance items.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: "This is a rare MGB. 1965. The first year of the 5-bearing crank and the last year of the pull handle. This car runs and drives really nicely! Take and enjoy as it is, or elevate it to the next level."

While I'm sure the title and registration may say the vin starts with "65" it is in fact not correct (look at the car vin). Califonia used to put the year the car on the title in front of the actual vin. Only beomes an issue if you apply for a title with the "65" from the paper work and DMV goes out and verfies the title (or maybe you'll get a vin inspector who does care)(Do ya feel Lucky? Well do ya punk?).
