Now available for auction is this custom restored 1965 Chevrolet C2 Corvette. Built in St. Louis in 1965, this Corvette originally left the factory in Glen Green over a Saddle Brown interior.  It was eventually acquired by the current owner who had carried out an extensive frame-off nut and bolt restoration lasting from 2014-2020.  It was refinished in standard GM Black and the cabin was completely reupholstered with new red leather seats, digital instrumentation, and a full custom sound system.  The suspension and brakes were completely restored with new parts, the car was professionally rewired, and a new GM Performance 502 crate motor was installed along with an upgraded engine management system and electronic ignition.  A true no-expense-spared build, this custom restored C2 Corvette is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey with under 1k miles driven since completion.

At the beginning of the restoration, this Corvette was fully disassembled and refinished in nonmetallic GM Black with a red top stripe.  A ’67 Big Block hood and manual antenna were added, and the convertible top was completely restored with new heavy-duty materials.  The seller notes only a few very minor touched-up imperfections throughout the exterior, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. Upgraded Detroit Speed electric headlight door motors were installed for improved operation and reliability.  This C2 rides on a set of REV107 alloy wheels dressed in Continental tires.

The cabin has been completely redone with new red leather seats, matching carpets, and a custom reupholstered dashboard in red and black leather.  A custom Billet Specialties steering wheel was installed and sits ahead of new Dakota Digital instrumentation.  Other features include a GPS speedometer sending unit, a Detroit Speed wiper delay system, an Ididit tilt steering column with all new electronics, and a custom stereo system with Sirius Satellite Radio, iPod/cell phone adapter, equalizer, amplifier, subwoofers, and more.  The Vintage A/C is reported to blow cold and all other gauges and accessories are noted to be fully functional.

Power comes from a GM Performance 502ci (8.2L) crate motor paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox featuring a McLeod RST twin disc clutch rated up to 800 lb.-ft of torque, and a custom-built and balanced main driveshaft.  A custom cross member was fabricated to allow easy removal and installation of the transmission.  The engine has been fitted with custom wrapped headers, electronic ignition, a Megasquirt Pro 3 engine management system, wide-band O2 sensor, a heavy-duty aluminum radiator, high output chrome alternator, March serpentine pulley system, and an electric cooling fan with adjustable temperature control.  The electrical system has been painstakingly overhauled with a completely new custom wiring harness, modern blade-type fuse box, and auxiliary relay panel.  The brakes and suspension have also been completely restored to original 1965 C2 specs with all new parts.  Less than 1k miles have been covered since the completion of the restoration and over 80 pages of build records are provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include complete build records and a clean title.  Offering a substantial increase in performance and reliability while staying true to its classic appearance, this custom restored C2 Corvette is an ideal choice for any discerning driver in search of a vintage American muscle car.

@Jahan Sorry, yes it is Fuel Injected.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@Jahan I was told the best Dyno Pull was 500 horse power and 560 pounds of torque at the crank.

  • Jahan (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@Ambassador-Auto thank you for your reply. Any idea about estimated HP?
This is fuel injected engine correcr?

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@Jahan The car actually performs really well. When I got the car, I had similar concerns, but was very impressed with how well it stopped and handled. In my research, cars with chassis, brakes modern suspension will sell for well over $120,000. I can not divulge the reserve, but this car is under that $100,000 number.

  • Jahan (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

Hi: Thanks for your reply. Most retromods of this type with upgraded & more powerful engine have all the brakes & suspensions upgraded to handle the higher HP & better handling. How does the old suspension & brake set up perform now?

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@IanWhidbey thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately it is against auction policy to provide the reserve and would defeat the purpose of a reserve auction to give that out.

  • IanWhidbey (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

    What is the reserve?

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@Jahan hello and thanks for reaching out. As the listing states, the suspension and brakes were replaced with new components and restored to factory 1965 specifications. I was not involved in the build but as my documents and photos show, it verifies this. I hope that clarifies. Happy to answer any questions I can.

  • Jahan (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

please tell us about the front and rear suspension and brake upgrades to handle the extra horsepower.
