Available for auction is this 1965 Cadillac Calais finished in Thunder Grey over a blue vinyl and cloth interior. Beginning in 1965, Cadillac renamed it's Series 62 after the French city of Calais. This first-year example is said to have remained with its original owner in Tucson, Arizona, and has recently completed a two-year ground-up restoration. It comes equipped with a 429ci V8 engine, power windows and seats, Comfort Control automatic climate control, Coker whitewall tire, and more. Handwritten service notes dating back to the original purchase are said to accompany the sale and a major service was carried out earlier this year which included a new timing chain, drive belts, a transmission service, and more. This Cadillac is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
The Calais shared styling with the more expensive DeVille, which included vertically stacked headlights, tailfins, and frameless side windows. This Calais underwent a two-year ground-up restoration which was completed earlier in 2022 and involved a glass out respray in Thunder Grey courtesy of Enhanced Certified Collision Center of San Luis Obispo, California. A collection of photos detailing the restoration process has been supplied by the seller. Equipment includes chrome bumpers and trim, cornering lamps, and 15″ steel wheels fitted with Cadillac covers and new Coker whitewall tires.
The cabin is trimmed in blue vinyl with cloth inserts along with matching carpets and a dashboard with brushed metal trim. During the restoration, the cabin was refurbished with new upholstery and carpets. Amenities include power-operated windows and mirrors, a power-adjustable front seat with a front fold-down center armrest, polished door sill guards, front door vent windows, Comfort Control automatic climate control, a push-button radio, and an analog clock. The seller notes that the air conditioning and heater are currently disconnected and that the clock is inoperable. All other gauges, electronics, and accessories are said to remain fully functional.
Power comes from a 426ci V8 engine which produced up to 340 HP when new. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 3-speed TurboHydramatic 400 automatic transmission. 1965 was the first year in which the TurboHydramatic transmission joined the list of standard features, which also included power steering and brakes. Earlier in 2022, a major service was carried out which included a new water pump, timing chain, drive belts, radiator hoses, valve cover and intake manifold gaskets, spark plugs and ignition wires, shocks, rear brakes cylinders, various bushings, the rebuild and adjustment of the carburetor, and engine oil and transmission services. Handwritten service notes dating back to new are provided by the seller along with a collection of service invoices.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, service records, original purchase documentation, and a clean title.

Yes, that's correct. The person that was working on the Cadillac took ill and wasn't able to complete those two things. Very unfortunate.
Looks like a couple of Porsche serviced receipts were imaged by mistake. Beautiful 18k paint job but the A/C and heater is not working?

We have video of all power windows working and power seat. Post soon.
Yes, all power windows work. No on the chrome. The person doing all the work got ill and moved on. Things for the new owner to do to make his own.
All the power windows work? Looks like the stainless steel trim below hood is not aligned? Were the bumpers re-chromed.. hard to tell from the photos?. Surprised steering wheel and ac not restored. Nice Car! Videos well done.
