The Porsche 904 was developed as a street-legal race car by Porsche and achieved significant success, winning its category in the Manufacturer's World Championship in 1964 and 1965. This Beck 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS replica was commissioned through Special Edition, Inc. in late 2020 and delivered new to the seller in 2023. Finished in red over a black interior, it features a 2.7-liter Porsche flat-six engine with upgraded cams, ported heads, 40mm PMO carburetors, and a 5-speed manual transaxle. The custom build includes optional 17” Coddington aluminum wheels, billet aluminum uprights, four-wheel coilover suspension, ventilated disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, an FIA rear end and door panel, a Kamm tail spoiler, chrome Hella fog lights, rear reflectors, front hood fasteners, painted stripes, air conditioning, 4-point Crow racing harnesses, a leather dashboard, a leather diamond pattern fuel tank cover, and Burberry plaid fabric bucket seats with interchangeable black leather inserts. This no-expense-spared Beck 904 replica is now being offered for auction once again by its original owner out of Florida.

The fiberglass bodywork was hand-assembled by Special Edition, Inc. of Bremen, Indiana. The exterior is finished in red with painted white racing stripes, removable Gulf livery decals, and racing number markers. Accessories include an FIA rear end and door panel, a rear Kamm tail spoiler, sliding side windows, chrome Hella fog lights, covered LED headlamps, rear reflectors, front hood fasteners, a center hood-mounted fuel filler, fender-mounted chrome mirrors, dual exhaust pipes, and gold Porsche badging. The car rides on 17” Coddington aluminum wheels dressed in Michelin tires from 2022 measuring 225/45 ZR17 at the front and 255/40 ZR17 at the rear. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features a black leather dashboard, door panels, square weave carpeting, and leather bucket seats with Burberry plaid inserts. A set of interchangeable black leather seat inserts accompanies the sale. Accessories include black and red coco floor mats, a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel with a Porsche crest center cap, red 4-point Crow racing harnesses, analog VDO gauges, drilled pedals, and an air conditioning system. The fully upholstered trunk features a diamond-stitched black leather fuel tank cover.

Configured for endurance racing applications with high-compression pistons, the 2.7-liter flat-six uses a 7R engine case from a 1974-1977 Porsche 911. It features sport cams and ported heads to accommodate 40mm PMO carburetors. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transaxle that was rebuilt by Special Edition, Inc. The car features four-wheel coilover suspension with billet aluminum uprights, rack-and-pinion steering, and ventilated disc brakes with four-piston calipers.

This sale will include a clean title and a set of black leather seat inserts.

The seller would like you to know: “This car is considered by many to be one of the most coveted designs ever built; the lines and dimensions are simply amazing. I compare it to the Mercedes 300SL, Ferrari Dino, and the Corvette Split window coupe in its elegance. If you’re looking for a special car to drive or to show, this 904 recreation will grab tons of attention every time it is out of your garage. This is the modern equivalent to the original 904's that cost millions.”

@Terra Thank you for your question, the answer is yes, it has an external oil cooler and it has dual cooling fans for the AC condenser. This car runs very cool even in the hot Florida summer months. The engine temp gauge has never exceeded 150 degrees even during stop and go traffic with the AC running.

Are you able to drive the car in the summer with the a/c on without problems? I assume it has an extra external oil cooler.

@Tgilbert Hi Todd, yeah a friend sent me the re-listing. Sorry to hear the previous winning bidder couldn't fulfill the commitment.

@tubby356 I had a gentleman that is 6'2 that drove here to inspect the car and he and his mechanic both drove the car. He put the seat back and had no real fitment issues while driving and he was comfortable. I'm 5'10 and I have the seat all the way forward when I drive it, there is about 4" of slide adjustment from front to back. They both were pleased with presentation and condition of the car and motor.

Regarding room in the car. Back in the 70's I drove to L.A. with 10k in hand to buy a real one. My attempts to get in and out of the car were futile. I am 6' 1 so did not buy car. Years ago I looked at Thunder Ranch 904 and he had a long list of things to do to make me fit. Good luck to a tall or long legged person.

@tee_kay I don't know if your'e aware that this Beck 904 Carrera GTS has been re-listed due to the fact that the buyer was unable to uphold his commitment to purchase the car. You had posted some great info on the car on the first listing. I appreciated all your perspectives on the build.

And it certainly looks gorgeous from my desk!

  • Tgilbert (seller) 1 day, 17 hoursago

@millstoneman Even in Florida there are some times and some places where a car like this can be a thrill to drive. However it is still a lot of fun to just drive locally to car events where it is greatly appreciated by others. It commands respect and appreciation even sitting still.

After watching the driving video, it just confirms why I couldn't possibly live in Florida. (God's waiting room, lol) This car begs to be driven in the hilly terrain and back, winding, country roads of New England, instead of traffic light to traffic light. Of course, when it's 20 degrees here... hmmm.

I have added the Option Invoice of $15,475 from Special Editions to the photos. In addition to the listed options I sourced and installed original Hella Fog lights to replace the Beck stock fog lights which cost me $750 on eBay.

Good Morning, perhaps many of you will be watching the final round of the Masters today, enjoy Masters Sunday and I will be available until the auction ends to answer any questions. This car is fully optioned by Beck Special Editions and you can look on their website and see they recently sold a similar build for $185,000 , additionally you can look on BaT in January this year where another Beck 904 sold for $172,000. This will sell for less $$$ without the years on the current waitlist for build orders. Here is your chance to get a great deal on a great Beck 904 Carrera 904 GTS.

@1974Bronco I have no doubt that you will fit with room, I also have a 356, and a 911 and I'm 5'10 and I keep my seats all the way forward. You can move the adjustable front seats back enough on this 904 so you will be comfortable.

  • 1974Bronco (registered bidder) 5 days, 6 hoursago

Help me out here. I’m the owner of several Porsche 356,70 911,97 911, spyder. One of the draws is regardless of model I have always f8x with room. Being 6’3” can you tell me if I would fit in one of these. I ask because I drive all my cars. No shows just drive but as stated I fit. What you say.

@Chupee $141,000 was the final bid for the car which in my opinion was better than the Beck 904 Carrera GTS that sold on BaT for $172,000 in January.

Thank you for revisiting this auction. Unfortunately, the winning bidder was unable to complete his end of the auction commitment. I was notified the day after by PCARMARKET that he had notified them of this unfortunate situation. As a result the bidder will no longer be able to participate as a bidder on this site. After a few days of consideration and at the request of the staff at PCARMARKET I have decided to give somebody else the opportunity to buy this beautiful car. This car still presents in the same beautiful condition as the day it was delivered to me from Special Editions. I will be available for the next six days to answer any of your questions. Good luck to the lucky bidder that will now get a chance to own this beautiful Beck 904 Carrera GTS.
