This Porsche 356SC Cabriolet was completed at the factory in April of 1964 wearing Reutter bodywork finished in Signal Red over a black leather interior. The SC or Super Carrera was the high-performance model of the final 356 generation, carrying the most powerful pushrod-type engine Porsche had ever produced. The Kardex shows this Cabriolet was delivered to its original owner in Germany through the MAHAG Porsche dealer in Munich. The car eventually made its way to the United States where an extensive bare-metal restoration was carried out by Klub Sport Racing in Florida from 2013-2016 at a cost of over $150k. Remaining true to its original appearance, this matching numbers 356SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York accompanied by historical records and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
This 356 was stripped to bare metal and refinished in its factory-specified color of Signal Red (6407). A black cabriolet soft top and matching tonneau cover have also been installed along with an accessory luggage rack and removable headlight grilles. The finish is described to be in excellent condition with consistent panel gaps throughout the body, detailed images are provided in the gallery. Optional fog lights were equipped from the factory and the 15” slotted wheels come fitted with chrome hubcaps and period-style Vredestein tires.
The cabin has been completely restored with new black leather upholstery and grey square weave carpeting per the car’s original specifications. The footwells are lined with Coco floor mats and the steering wheel came factory equipped with an optional deluxe chrome horn ring. A Custom Autosound audio system has been installed including a vintage-style radio and subwoofers located behind the front seats. The seller notes the subwoofers are reversibly mounted and may be easily removed.
The air-cooled 1600cc flat-four SC engine is equipped with dual carburetors and drives the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual gearbox. Both the engine and gearbox are said to be numbers matching, images of the case stampings, Kardex, and Porsche COA are provided in the gallery. Both the engine and transmission were rebuilt during the restoration by Klub Sport Racing in Florida, and the seller reports approximately 700 miles have been driven since. A service completed in 2020 included a brake refresh and carburetor tune-up.
This sale will include the Kardex, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, restoration invoices, a jack, toolkit, spare wheel, and a clean title. Well restored and documented, this SC makes an excellent choice for any Porsche enthusiast in search of a classic 356 Cabriolet.

@Hunt Hello, the answer is yes, as any driven, unrestored 58 year old 356 would have. However, this car was completely and 100% taken apart to bare metal as shown in the restoration receipts, which come with the car. All the metal work was viewed from all perspectives and all the necessary areas of the rust were corrected by top notch restoration facility Klubsport Racing Inc in Florida. There should be absolutely no concern about rust, as there is none, and you can eat off the underside as seen in the photos. In 45 years in business we have rarely seen a 356 as thoroughly restored as this one.
Let us know if you have any questions :)
Thank you!
Did it have any rust?

@Spass4zwei Hello! This is a factory matching numbers car, as confirmed by both the COA and Kardex. Some of the records that we have, in German, show that the car was confirmed as accident free and that the mileage was correct at the time of sale in 1967 to a second owner.
The odometer is currently reading 19947 KM - which we presume to be an original mileage of 119947 KM -, approx 74K Miles. Given that the engine was replaced under warranty, with a factory matching numbers replacement at 57K KM, the current engine has only about 60,000KM on it, which is about 37,000 miles. Even with this low mileage (and the engine running great), the owner wanted a full nut and bolt restoration so therefore, this engine was later rebuilt (along with the transmission, and just about everything else on the car) just about 300 miles ago during the 2016 restoration. The result is an incredibly powerful and well running 356SC.

Upon closer review, this European Market Car has the odometer and speedometer readings in Km and Km/h. Based on the records from Munich, the engine was replaced on warranty at km 57920 with the current one on 8/16/1965.
I would love to see the repair items billed at $29, and 20,19 and 16K.
All these records are super valuable and proved a trackable record for this car!

Thanks for the video and the paint readings. The shifter appears "after market", but I agree - the car is very clean.

@BETIL1401 Hello! We don't have any photos prior to the restoration, but we do have receipts totaling about 155K documenting every step of the restoration. Let me know if you have any additional questions!
Do you have photos prior to the restoration?
@dobird92 Hello! We do not know the total mileage on the car, but the odometer reads about 19K KM. We do know, that the restoration was done less than 700 miles ago, so in all respects. the car is like new. Not even 1000 miles since the restoration was completed.
Hopefully this answers your question, thank you!
Beautiful Cabriolet! Do you know the total mileage on the car?
