This 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet is finished in Black over a red interior and features an air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. It was purchased by the seller from its original owner in 1991 and has been driven approximately 3k miles since while being stored in a climate-controlled garage. Accompanied by original sales correspondence and service records dating back to the first owner’s purchase, this 356C is now being offered for auction out of New York.
This 356C was factory-finished in Black (6413) with a matching convertible soft top. The T6 Reutter bodywork is decorated with chrome trim, a chrome driver’s side mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, a rear luggage rack, a twin-grille decklid, gold model lettering, and chrome rear bumperettes with integrated exhaust outlets. The car rides on chrome-plated 15” slotted steel wheels with chrome Porsche-crested hubcaps. The seller indicates the tires have not been replaced during their ownership, and some small scratches are noted on the exterior along with a dime-sized chip on the windshield.
Inside, red upholstery covers the seats, door panels, and upper dashboard with matching square weave carpets below. Accessories include a body-colored dashboard fascia, a black three-spoke steering wheel, analog VDO gauges, a quartz clock, dark brown floor mats, lap belts, folding rear seatbacks, manual roll-up windows, a locking glovebox, and a vintage Blaupunkt radio. The seller notes that the tachometer does not work properly.
The air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four engine delivers up to 75 HP to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transaxle. Stopping power is handled by disc brakes at all four corners. The seller notes the fuel tank was drained and cleaned upon their purchase, a new fuel cock has been recently installed, and annual oil changes have been performed during their ownership.
This sale will include a folder of documentation and records, a full-size spare wheel, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for over 33 years and stored it in a heated and cooled garage. All maintenance is up to date as of April 2023. The car is completely stock. I have enjoyed this car for all those years. Now it is time for someone else to enjoy the car.”

This machine is very much to my liking. Do you have information on the original color combination? Would this machine be able to be driven back to Chicago?
Can you comment on the service that has been done? Was the engine replaced?
