In late 1959, Porsche revealed the updated 356B generation featuring a revised headlight and front bumper design. This final-year 1963 example was sold new by Competition Motors in Orange, California, and retains its original California black plates and ‘pink slip’ title. Finished in Ruby Red over a grey leather interior, the 356 features a replacement 1600cc “Super” engine with 86mm pistons, mild cams, and 40 IDA Weber carburetors installed in 2020. Other recent service includes replacement of the brakes, suspension, and refurbishment of the interior. This reported three-owner car is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Hotchkiss, Colorado, accompanied by the Porsche Kardex and restoration records.
This 356 has been refinished in the classic Porsche color of Ruby Red Metallic from its original Kardex-verified color of Silver Metallic (6202). The T6 bodywork includes a twin-grille rear decklid, dual exhaust outlets integrated within the rear bumperettes, and factory optioned front fog lights. This 356B rides on 15” steel wheels wrapped in Sumitomo tires dated 6/21. Detailed photos of the vehicle can be found in the gallery.
The cabin was recently refurbished with full grey leather upholstery while the gauges were professionally restored by North Hollywood Speedometer. Accessories include a period Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, custom black and red Coco floor mats, a three-spoke steering wheel, and upgraded speakers in the kick panels.
This 356B is powered by a replacement 1600cc ‘Super’ flat-four engine paired with the original 4-speed manual transaxle as confirmed by the Kardex numbers. The engine was refurbished in 2020 with 86mm pistons, mild cams, and 40 IDA Weber carburetors. A thorough inspection was conducted in 2021 prior to more recent restoration work including partial replacement of the floor pan as well as refurbishments of the suspension and brakes, speedometer cable adjustment, and 12-volt electrical conversion.
This sale will include records, the original plates, pink slip, and owner's manuals.

Does this car have disc brakes or drum brakes?
I do not see any bubbles in the paint, or indication of rust at this point. This car has spent most of its life in California.
