We are pleased to introduce this custom restored 1963 Porsche 356B T6 Coupe in Slate Grey over a red leather interior. Reported to have been under the care of a previous owner for over 30 years, this 1963 example was eventually treated to a full bare-metal restoration seven years ago including a mechanical overhaul, engine rebuild, and a custom reupholstered interior. Sold following the restoration, this example spent time in two major collections while rarely ever being driven before eventually being purchased by the current owner within the last year. Showcasing a stunning color combination and freshly sorted componentry, this fully restored 356B is now being offered for auction by its seller in South Carolina with approximately 83k miles shown on the 5-digit odometer.
During the restoration seven years ago, this 356B was stripped to bare metal and professionally refinished in the nonmetallic shade of Slate Grey. All new rubber seals were installed during this time and much of the original chrome brightwork was replaced. The factory color is noted to have been White, and the original metal floor pans have also been retained with the exception of the battery pan which was likely replaced at some point due to battery acid corrosion. A chrome rear luggage rack has been fitted along with removable headlight stone guards. This example rides on factory 1962 date-coded wheels with older but lightly-used Pirelli P4 tires. The matching date-coded spare wheel is also included in the sale. The seller reports only very minor cosmetic imperfections as well as a small chip at the bottom of the windshield.
Inside, the cabin has been completely redone with new red leather upholstery and oatmeal square-weave carpeting. The door panels, dashboard, and steering wheel were also refurbished. The Blaupunkt radio has been retained, although it is currently nonfunctional. The clock is said to run slightly slow, and all other gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.
The original 1600cc flat-four engine was reportedly rebuilt during the restoration with a custom valve job, new valve guides, fly-cut heads, and freshly honed cylinders. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. The suspension was overhauled with new front and rear shocks, a steering damper, wheel bearings, bushings, and more. The braking system was also redone with new stainless-steel lines and a front disc conversion. An oil service and filter change were carried out within the last 50 miles and the seller had a recent compression test done in February of 2021 which yielded a result of 90 psi across all four cylinders.
This sale will include a kardex, vintage picnic box, a toolkit, a jack and a date-coded spare wheel. A beautifully executed restoration in an impeccable color combination, this 356B is just waiting to please its next owner.

Yes, you should be shocked. I would have expected a 90k handle. I recently did a 356 C two years ago at a Porsche marque specialist that went 78k in restoration costs not counting the value of the car.

@Jad930 Please see photo #223. This is the information I received with the car. Since I'm skeptical about previous work I had a compression test done a month or so ago and it was exactly 90 across all cylinders. This suggests that the work stated was more than likely done. The car is also leak free.

Does the seller have an idea what was done to the engine to increase horsepower from stock to “S” specifications? Was it bored out or heads ported? Nice car. Jon
@Clint930 That is not rust. That tan color is the original foam rubber or sponge rubber placed by the factory. Very rare to see this stuff still in a car. Aft of that appears to be the original black sound pad. The sound pad in front of the engine appears to have been replaced when engine was done.
Slate Grey is the Best Grey all day....
Picture 93 of the engine compartment shows what appears to be rust coloring on the back structure. Please explain what we are seeing in this photo.

@jeffsnook I answered your eng number question but forgot to say something about the "S" emblem. I'm told that when the engine work was done it increased the power to S level. The car was born a 356 Normal.

@jeffsnook There sure is an engine number photo. Very clearly showing the correct number. I gave Pcar almost 300 photos to post. They elected to only pick 227 photos and until you asked I did not notice the eng number pic was not one of them. I'll give Pcar the benefit of the doubt and say perhaps the person putting up the photos didn't know it was an engine number (it was a closeup). In any case I just wrote to them and asked to please put up this critical photo ASAP. If you want me to email you the photo contact me and I'll do so. Thanks for noticing this.
